How to build a Cardboard CFL Box

also instead of water bottles Homedepot has dryer duct for the passive intake and it cost like .30 cents USD for a 4 foot peice. works alot better and you can bend and move it to help with light leaks. when urs is done post the final result of your box here

I still dont quite understand the ducting and passive intake, can you explain that a little more? I'm trying to figure out what to hook up to the passive intake, but i have most everything else figured out.

I have a 2 foot solid strip that has 4 outlets on it, and i want to connect a outlet-to-socket with a Y splitter, which will allow me to have up to 8 bulbs going at a time. I might have to modify the box design slightly for the type of fixture im using. Soon as my girl stops tripping about me spending 20 bucks on some shit ill be GTG.

So what a PASSIVE INTAKE does is when the exhaust hole is bigger ( double the size perferibly ) then the intake hole it creates a NEGITIVE FLOW ( a breeze ) on the inside and will always make for fresh air intake. what works the charm is a 10 inch fan on the top instead of the computer fans . That will pum in crazy amount of air plus it has a speed regulator so u can ajust ur temps
    by a few dergrees.

thanks for the heads up, now if i were to make a carbon filter would i want that hooked up to the passive intake, right?

Also, my space does not seem to get too hot, so the fan size i might have to play around with. I think i can find an adjustable desk fan for the same price as computer case fans(fuckers are expensive).

youd want to hook it up to your exhaust fans so that way its blown all the plants odors into the carbon filter out into the open room. i got that fan at walmart for 9 bucks. but yea once yours is done upload it here so others can see the final product.

How to build a Cardboard CFL Box

Ok so i did some hardcore thinking and was able to spray it all onto a piece of paper before it left my head. so hopefully tomorrow i will be able to go and purchase the rest of the pieces that i need for the box i wanted to make, and will be able to post prices and possibly what i did to make it.

I am hoping this isnt one of those :stoned: moments, and it actually works, but it sounds good... and i had like a math moment with ducting and it all kinda just clicked, so we shall see how the design turns out tomorrow. I should be able to get a chance to run to wally's. Also, later down the line, i am going to be making and using Bodom of Children's DIY - Carbon Filter found here:
    http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-faqs...on-filter.html

Also found the materials for this were very inexpensive and the concept is spot on. So huge thanks to you Bodom for putting that out there buddy.

yea BOC has some crazy knowledge when it comes to cannabis and DIY stuff. if you have any questions on the carbon filter ask him cause he knows what hes doing with the carbon filter. I dont need one but i for sure am gonna try to make one myself to some how attach it to my tent when it comes in.

How to build a Cardboard CFL Box

ive seen all of ur set up pics. and u made some pretty big errors. u put alot of time into detail but ur common sense is lacking. dont use 26 watt cfls they suck, you need atleast 42 watts at 5000-6500 Kelvin, and u want about 4000 lumens. this is for EACH BULB. lumens are not the same as kelvin ur getting them mixed up. use all 6500 kelvin bulbs at a time for all of veg, then when u switch to 12/12 you use 42 watt 2700 kelvin cfls each with about 4000 lumens.
