high bro, just thought i'd jump in here and say that the tube type fluoro's work
just fine and, in fact, the T5 HO's are the top of the line in fluorescent lighting.

not knowing how familiar you are with fluoro's let me tell you that that designation
'T5' refers to the diameter of the bulb, so a regular shop light fluorescent light is
usually a T12 and the T5's will be long and much more slender, almost half the
diameter of a standard broom stick.

anyway, i'm a micro-grower so my needs are relatively small.

here's a few pics of a new mother cab i'm finishing up tonight, just waiting
for the drill and the camera battery packs to re-charge.

note that i'm using a 4 bulb, 2 foot, T5 HO light as my only light for this box,
for a total of 96watts, 24watts per bulb.

i expect that to be enough to keep 15 bonsai mothers and still have room for about
    a dozen rooting cuts.

Nice. I've got the Pioneer Jr. IV myself for starting my outdoor babes. I was thinking of adding it to my Procyon 100 for flowering but space is limited so I will probably just use the 100w bulb. Stay tuned for the log.
