i actually read this really cool way that you can take a DVD burner and a mini mag light, and with less than $20 of modification and a little knowhow you can actually create a laser that can burn things. for example you can burn through a piece of paper, watch the video, and it uses nothing but some batteries. how is that for efficient, cheap, and clean?
the soldering iron is always a neat trick, just place the tip near or on the green and your set. the only problem is it is really hot usually several hundred degrees above whats necessary and they usually have a short cord and no safe way to store it so it wont burn things accidentally, and yes accidents happen, that is why they are accidents.
any lighter that has a good flame would be the one i choose. you cant really go wrong with a bic usually but ive had a few i didnt like, flame too big, or too small. the cheapos are unrealiable but still work pretty well. i dont really trust torch lighters all that much the heat is very hot even where there is no color. and you can blow the loose weed around on top of bowls.
