    Memorial day weekend

I was going to bring up the swastika as well.. It doesn't matter what it used to stand for because the Nazi's tarnished it's view in the western world forever. And in my opinion, if you have any respect for the millions of people killed by the Nazi regime, you would never put a swastika anywhere.

Same goes for the confederate flag. It doesn't matter what it used to mean. Those who fly it now do it for a reason.

And come on man.. don't be naive and call me a racist for this. When you see a big jacked up chevy with a confederate flag painted across the back window, you know exactly who's driving it.

first off i never called you a racist. i am white, and have a shaved head, what's that make me? nothing, i just like to wear my hair shaved.

there is nothing wrong with being proud of where you are from. if people all thought as you then nothing would change. most black people don't even know the history of their people or the slave trade.

is the naacp racist? no, but if white people were to set up an organization giving money only to whites then there would be a big stink about it.

it's the same reason that marijuana is illegal in the united states. the original laws were made because it was associated with blacks and hispanics and the problems that they caused because they were all doped up.

so don't give me this bull crap about the swastika being tarnished forever. that's because people are too busy being politically correct. christians wear a cross, or an instrument of death as a symbol of religious faith. so like anything else it's all point of view. and there are jews killing palestenians everyday, and vice versa. so no more stars of david can be worn. where does it stop? who decides what one gets to diplay and what one doesn't? that's the beauty of free speech.

keep in mind, that for you to have your opinion you must give the right to others to have their own, regardless of whether you agree with it or not! that's kinda how it works. t

I took that as a comparison between me and the Nazi's. My apologies.

And I'm not taking your opinion away from you. This is a debate. So stiffen that upper lip soldier.

Look.. I'm not being politically correct. I'm being a realist. Fact: People associate the swastika with the Nazi's. And they will continue to do so for a long ass time. The only reason it is still used as a symbol in it's original meaning in other parts of the world is because the Aryan brotherhood has yet to infiltrate Tibet.

If people all thought as me, nothing would change? Check yourself. Why don't you go get a swastika tattoo and tell everyone you just really like being lucky..

Some things are better left alone. The swastika is one of those things.

And I see you no longer are arguing about the confederate flag. At least we agree on that now.

i could care less about the confederate flag, or the swastika for that matter. and i completely understand your point of view.

and you are right about the big jacked up chevy with the flag in the window, but that is still a stereotype (regardless of whether it is right most of the time). sterotypes do have to come from somewhere.

the aryans, lol. i don't want to touch that one.

and you are right, many do associate the swastika with the nazis. but to me that's ignorant. that's someone not knowing history or not caring to look. that's like 11,000 years of good for the swastika and 50 years of bad. hmmm, which way should the scale tip? but which way does it tip? you are right.

history is written by the winner, so i'm sure that has something to do with the negative connotations of many things.

one of my favorite quotes, it's an african proverb that states, "until the lions have their historians the hunt will always favor the hunter.".

i do appreciate your opinion. and thank your for appreciating mine.

i know this whole thing was a little off topic, but it was still right on topic. it is because of those men and women have served this country (and your's i'm sure too johnny, although i can't say i know much about canadian history) that we can discuss our opinions.

and like i said, regardless of what connotation something carries, it is a personal choice whether or not someone gets offended.

what does having a tattoo of a swastika prove? that idiots will jump to a conclusion and wanna beat me up? that would merely strengthen my point.

i appreciate the good debate though.

Good debate indeed. It's sad dude, but this is the way the world works. It's funny.. the more we strive for equality, the further we get from it.

i agree. and it's our governments that want this. they want a serperation amongst the masses. if we put labels on things it creates rifts. if we have rifts we are too busy arguing amongst ourselves as opposed to fighting our true oppresors!

keep that mind strong johnny, and don't let people tell you your opinion! we need more independent thinkers.

Much respect for all those who accepted to die for what they believed was the right thing... from both sides... as everyone who goes to war thinks its own side is the right one...
    May they rest in peace.

Okay first of all my pipe is not a joke, the Confederate flag does not stand for racism, white power nor hate. I do believe there is a huge misunderstanding..because you are a little confused but that is okay that is how our schools around the world with history has distorted the truth so now that you have brought this up to my attention I will give you a little history lesson! Pay attention because most of everyone will agree

The confederate flag is a flag and nothing more but a symbol, during the civil war it was a battle flag, they carried it a long with them onto the battle fields to let the north know that they we're coming (Or anyone else) and or who's territory was who's. The thirteen stars on the flag stand for the thirteen states of the Confederacy. The Confederate flag is not a racist flag, nor is it a flag of hate, it is the flag of our country, The Confederate States of America (Which in a surprisingly way still exist, at least from the inside).

The Confederate Flag flew over Slavery did it not? Well yes while this is true, the same can be said of the U.S. Flag. BUT U.S. Flag flew over slavery a full 70 years before the Confederate States of America came into existence . The Confederate Flag never flew over the Ships that brought the slaves over here. To top it all off, the Confederate States of America freed her slaves in 1863, the Federal Union didnā??t do it until 1868 with the passage of the 13th amendment. (So you see the South was not the only slave states)

Another thing the "Slaves" that everyone talks about being treated badly, not all of it is true what you hear..the north treated their slaves even worse then the south, and the north is the one who had the slaves in the first place! At that time we never knew what the southern soil of America was made up of because the Northern states we're so mountainous so the north sent out a bunch of people from them north to check it out, it came to be good land rich in soil and better weather so the north sent some slaves to help with labor did you get that? To "Help" not "Slave"..My point is that yes there we're some slave owners that treated the American Africans wrong and beat them badly those are the stories you hear in school and t.v. but you don't hear about the good ones how their lives we're just as good as anyone else.

Some slave owners in fact we're black as well and slaved black men and by choice not by force or threat, they choose to slave their own. Chinese, Mexicans, Indians, "Whites" still we're being slaved for labor..but you don't hear about that or see that on t.v. or school..You have to also take into consideration slavery has gone back since man kind has been around so what happened in America is nothing new. But my point is the Confederate Flag does not stand for racism and it never did nor will it ever in a life time of existence, I think you need to go onto Google and check out some more information for yourself and educate your brain just as I have because once I was just like you and looked at the south wrong and anyone who flagged a Confederate flag.

I don't want to start any arguments or grudges between anyone or myself because I like this forum BUT I have the right to speak my opinion and factual wisdom because that is my first amendment right as an American!:s4:

Further more as a human being whether the flag did stand for racism and hate do I not as a citizen of America have the right to believe and show my own opinion? More beyond that if you think that it was a "joke" you could have asked me instead of implying me as a racist or anyone else that has a Confederate flag or symbol. And you see that this all creates by you assuming that my pipe is a symbol of racism? But in a big way its not your fault because our own government misinforms everyone and tell them things that aren't true and it leads to debates like this, but further more I am glad that you had brought this up because I'm glad that I have typed this all down now instead of later haha so no disrespect man! :hippy:

Dutch Pimp your hilarious haha Keep it up!

I can believe it Steve haha

States that seceded under CSA control - Green
States and territories claimed by CSA without formal secession and/or control - Light Green

Half of Arizona and New Mexico was claimed so even though Arizona is part of the wild west as they say it was also apart of the south
