Memorial day weekend

My grandfather was a Former U.S. Marine. He fought in Korea when the war broke out just right after he graduated from high school. He had a scholarship to become a baseball player in collage and believe it or not the Cubs wanted him after he got out from collage and he said he'd rather join the service.

Sometimes I would think he was crazy to turn that down, but I think about it and I think I'd be crazy to turn down a war and the service for your country..whether it is meant to be fought or not thats not what matters. This is his day and every other fallen soldier in present day and in the past, I idolize their heroism and bravery, and to the ones that are still breathing to this day I thank you

I think you guys misunderstood me. There's a certain stigma associated with the confederate flag.. one that I'm not a fan of. By joke I meant I hope the guy is just kidding and thinks having a confederate flag on a pipe is funny/sarcastic/not meant to be taken literally type of joke.

just because someone displays something that has a negative connotation to most, does not mean that the person displaying said object thinks or believes that way. and to lump that person in with those who do is no worse than the group of pepole who perverted the symbol to begin with.

that's like saying someone shouldn't display a german flag. or a swastika. the swastika dates back to ~9500BC. it means lucky or auspicious object. it is used in buddhism as well as hinduism not to mention many different civilizations and cultures.

or that one shouldn't display their on nations flag. i'm an american, and i love my country, but am i proud of everything they've done or everything they stand for? HELL NO! so should i not display that flag either?

getting offended is a personal choice anyhow.
