    NoOB Grow VERMONT Pt. 2

    Hey Everyone,

This is my second grow log since the first plant I had died just before I was able to see signs of gender. I was digging around in my basement and found a couple of grow lights that belonged to my dad. I decided to set them up and germinate all the dark colored seeds that I had accumulated over the course of the year. I am starting all the ones that seem reasonably healthy under this light, maybe keeping one or two indoors for fun, but the rest are going to grow outside.
I am going to post pictures of the little runts which were sowed only a few days ago once I get my camera back home to take pics.

The only question I have at this point is whether or not it is healthy for a plant to be started indoors and then moved to the outside because I tried that with the last one I grew and it did not work out so well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. More to come in the next day or so!

    Sincerely,

yes you can start seeds indoors but you have to "harden off" before planting outside, which basically means putting outside everyday for about a week with ever increasing light. Start them in the shade for a few hours one day, then the next maybe another hour, and so on.

Excellent information, thank you very much! Do you happen to know where I can read more about this hardening phase just for good measure?

Here is the first set of pics that were taken as of day 5 of vegetation.

As the count goes at this point there are roughly 30 seedlings that will hopefully grow to maturity.

I know they aren't the best quality but Im making due with what I have.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Updates...

So the hardening process was not so much a sucess as I thought it was going to be. I put all the little guys outside one lovely afternoon only to come back to seeing the resident woodchuck tearing through all of them. He ate all but one of the baby plants before he became a permanent piece of art on my livingroom wall. So there will only be one plant in this diary from now on.

Is it worth raisin the one plant to maturity just to find out that it is a male? It is getting late, but not too late to start some new seedlings (if that is an option for you). Considering that around half of seeds turn out to be male, i would ressomend starting some new seeds. This way you are more likely to get a male or two!! Just my 2 cents. Whatever you do decide to do, I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you for the infomation but I'm willing to take the chances that this seed will be female because all the seeds that I chose were the darkest of the dark brown "tiger striped" seeds that I could find.

I just got 5 more seeds that are germinating as we speak so hopefully I will have better luck with just those indoors.

    Ok. Heres the skinny.

I germ'd a bunch more seeds (all dark brown) and have them planted in my makeshift grow cabinet. There is space blanket covering the walls to help reflect the light as well as a fan for circulation..... Here's some pics

    More progress to come!

The third pic is a plant that was recently sick and nursed back to health hope she grows big and strong!
