Nothing much to update today, a few more pistils on the plants but nothing worth more pictures at this point. Might have another hermie(might have seen a ball), gonna give it another week to see if it changes at all, but so far so good. Also I gave them their second feeding of flowering nutes, and made sure to water them pretty good as it has been a bit of a heat wave here. Hopefully next week or sooner I will have something to show.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! So today all was well, beautiful hot sunny day, and then.... The wind picked up and flattened my babies! It was so windy it actually snapped one of the big ones main stem about 3 inches off the ground, so I stuffed it with wet paper towel and duct taped the crap out of it, and tied it to a stake. Hopefully it will be ok, as it was one fine looking lady an hour ago, I'd be pretty choked if it died. Anyways I guess the point of the post is to be prepared before the wind knocks over your crop, and stake them before. OH YEAH and the other big elnina is a frakkin male too, so hes gonna get chopped before he does something bad to the ladies.

damn. sounds like a bad deal, all-around. Wishing you lots of fems and still air for the final part of your grow.

excellent job keeping us posted. I have really enjoyed reading about your grow and look forward to see what kind of results you get.

WHAT THE??? hail in August? rain in July? and I thought the heat was bad!

I'm real sorry about your babies, sounds like you did what you could though. except I am wondering, why did you stuff a paper towel inside the stem?

but ya, that sucks. I've been through something similiar (i don't update my grow log as well as you do daddy) and at the end of the day, I was just glad I didn't lose everything.

and i'm sure you thought of this already but is there anyway you could erect a cover/tarp/barrier to protect them from the elements?

Thanks for the sympathy guys Yeah Savage, the weather here is hardly predictable, and the weather patterns have changed a lot in the last 10-15 years.

Anyways I stuffed the wet paper towel all around them stem so that hopefully it won't dry out and die, but rather pull the moisture from it and heal itself back up. I remember reading a thread about people attaching branches from weed onto other tree types and this was the method they used, so I figured its worth a try.

As far as a tarp, I have thought a lot about this, but still havn't came up with something that I could easily tarp/untarp them and have it somewhat camo. I mean I could easily build a frame and throw a tarp over it, but its a matter of the plants size, location, stealth, and an easy solution .

Here is some pics of the damage. Notice I only staked up the 3, as the others are not fully bent and they will probably be fine once the wind goes away. Also that big one laying is the other male el nina, so hes gonna get the chop. As far as the broken one goes, only time will tell if it heals up or not, but I am really hoping it does as it was really nice looking and just starting to fill up with pistils.

Well I checked them tonight, the broken one is officially done for. However, the other females all seemed to be starting to pop a lot of pistil and seemed thicker than the other day. Also I was wondering if its ok to keep them tied how they are. I had to make sure the wind didn't bust them up so basically I tied around them so the branches were all close together. The big plant is really unstable after being blown over so I'd like to keep the stability with it being tied, will this affect anything?

Hey GrowDawg, I would like to get those, but money is tight and they are just not in the budget right now. Too bad since last night we had FROST, yeah, thats how bad my luck is. So what once was 18 is now 4, unless the small ones come back, which I doubt. Anyways check it out, check out the crazy dark on the buds forming on the now lonely 2(most of the pics are from the big one). The 2 in the trees still are not forming buds but they are much more protected than the others so I think they will be ok to go a bit longer.

Well its wednesday! The ladies are doing good, the big one is really starting to bud up, as the pictures indicate, it is also the only plant really purp'ing up, and it smells like chocolate or coffee, kinda a mix:rastasmoke::rastasmoke:. The other one with it is budding up, but not quite as quickly as the other. The other two are still slow, bud the el nina started to pop a few more pistils, and the tall one is still lagging(I think it is a heavy sativa strain). Anyways on with the pics! Also I bought some frost blankets, but they were really long and not very wide, so I made them into bags by stapling them together and I am tying them around the plants when frost is coming, so far so good.
