Pot spurs Oklahoma City pupil suspension

An Oklahoma City elementary school student was suspended for the rest of the school year after administrators found marijuana in his possession.

Administrators at Oklahoma Cityâ??s Eisenhower Elementary School called police Friday after finding the 8-year-old student in possession of 0.25 gram of marijuana, according to an Oklahoma City Police Department report.

The officer was unable to get any information from the student concerning the substance because the student was emotional, the report states.

The studentâ??s parents were notified and the incident was referred to the state Department of Human Services.

No arrests have been made, and the student was not taken into DHS custody, police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

The last day of class in Oklahoma City Public Schools is June 1.

School district spokeswoman Kathleen Kennedy said the districtâ??s policy requires intervention with the help of DHS.

"Our focus right now needs to be on helping this child and his family get the social services that he needs,â?� Kennedy said.

DHS spokeswoman Mary Leaver said she could not comment on the case, but in cases like this employees may do an assessment of the family to find the reason for the problem and refer the student to services. If the need is there, a caseworker could do a full investigation, Leaver said.

luckly the cops could get nothin outa him right away. i could see the senario bein he either got it from dads or his older brothers stash. then when the DHS bastards come he would have been removed from the home.

and what the hell is this why "social services" how bout seein if mom and dad can take care of the matter. he gets caught with a quarter gram of pot and oh my god he needs the 12 step program. how bout seein if maybe mom and dad can get the boy over this instead of the state gettin invovled and wastin all my tax payer money on a kid who more than likly dont even know how to smoke.
