VA Hospital Policy On Medical Pot: Donā??t Bring It Inside
Tuesday, May 19, 2009, 9:11
The policy of Lutz Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Saginaw regarding Michiganā??s new medical marijuana laws is: Keep it in your car.
VA hospitals will not write recommendations that patients receive marijuana and will not allow consumption or possession on the premises, said Carrie L. Seward, public affairs officer for the hospital.
ā??We will not be able to do anything for medical marijuana,ā? she said.
Seward said violators will ā??probably get a courtesy warning ā?¦ but they should leave it in their car or it should not be on the premises.ā?
Seward said patients should notify their VA doctors if they are using medical marijuana, especially if they are part of a pain treatment program. Patients also should possess proper documentation to show they are legal users.
So far the issue has not come up, Seward said, but the hospital is clarifying the policy for when it does.
ā??Thatā??s great,ā? said Gregory R. Switala of Clio, a coordinator for the Saginaw/Bay City Michigan Medical Marijuana Compassionate Care Club. ā??As long as theyā??re leaving people be, thatā??s all weā??re looking for.ā?

God knows ,
V.A hospitals here do have a hell of alot of chemical dependency patients / rehab cases . Might have something to do w/ it . It's B/S and discrimination if you ask me though . I'd find a hungry lawyer if they pulled that shit w/ me .
Just for the exposure .

I would like to recommend that as many veterans as possible join this organization:
Incorporated in 2007, Veterans for Medical Marijuana Access (VMMA) advocates for veterans' rights to access medical marijuana for therapeutic purposes. VMMA also works to minimize the harm associated with marijuana use, which many veterans believe to be conviction and incarceration.
VMMA encourages all legislative bodies to endorse veterans' rights to use medical marijuana therapeutically and responsibly, and is working to end all prohibitions associated with such use.
VMMA is working to preserve the long established doctor-patient relationship to privacy rights and to safely discuss medical marijuana use within the V.A. healthcare system without fear of punishment or retribution.
"We must remember that the best health care decisions are not made by government and insurance companies, but by patients and their doctors."
ā?? President George W. Bush, State of the Union Address, January 23, 2007.
Welcome to the VMMA Website | VMMA

MI - VA Hospital Policy On Medical Pot: Donā??t Bring It Inside
I am all for any medicinal usage for anyone and as a vet i think it is important to make sure i support this effort as well as any other vet out there. Hell i wrote my name because i aint worried about shit. What are they going to do to me? OH i forgot its the forbidden Marijuna, lol..I might get prison time for personal medicinal use. I visit my local VA hospital many times a year and in my area they seem to be decent care takers. To bad MJ has such a bad rap.
