Depends, for one plant you could prob start it with one 40 watt CFL 6500k Daylight, but it would be better if you had more. Im currently working 3 of mine under a 27watt 6500k daylight cfls and they are getting nice. Its up to you if you want to use shitty seeds, I didnt want to spend 100 bucks on cream seeds since it was my first grow, so I say, use em, It does depend on how long you grow your plant for and how long your flowwer it for, and yes you do plant the root part down in the soil, maybe 6mm deep, a bit more if the root is long, you dont want the plant to stress peeking its head out. As well if your going to use cfls, keep your lights maybe an inch from the plant, it will take some time to figure the best distance, to close and the leaves will start to yellow. Happy growing.
