Afgani - Secret Closet CFL Grow, First real Attempt

Wow, so you have quite a lot of lights for each plant. Thanks for answering my question.
WeayLay Reviewed by WeayLay on . Afgani - Secret Closet CFL Grow, First real Attempt Hello Everyone, So here is my first grow log as well as my first real attempt. I am growing some random afgani strand from this guy I know. I started them from seeds, 7 out of 8 germinated. 6 of the seeds were decently strong looking so I decided one seed per pot and the last 2 seeds that were not as strong looking I put together in one pot. Needless to say that pot never showed signs of life. So now I am on day 4 of veg, they are looking ok. As this is my first time, I was researching all Rating: 5

my first guess is pH. Just grab some of those dropper pH testers at the pet store for like $5. Then test your pH of the water going in AND going out. Adjust accordingly.

    They look really healthy otherwise.

Sounds good, thanks guys. And Headshake, ya I know what you mean, it deff would have made more sence to post it here. I think I figured Id get a quick answer that way, but ya, Im noob at this forum stuff. Thanks for the help tho, Im off to the pet store to get some carbon stuffs, and a ph testing kit. So far no more spots and to be honest, the water I used justbefore I noticed the spots and edges of the leaves I had only brita filtered, not left out for 24 hours. So im gonna check the water, I think if the tap water is too high, I might just get some bottled water for them, anyone think that would be a bad idea?? Im still learning. Later today Ill post some picks, there getting big and starting to stink.

no worries enhanced. next time just post in the plant problem section. you'll get a lot more views than if you even post it in your grow log.

use spring water and not distilled. spring has the trace minerals (or a lot of them) that your plants need as opposed to distilled that has nothing.

i guess we'll see what happens when you get back.

So the leaf curl hasnt really progressed, yet hasnt really gone away on the leaves that were curling. I did move the lights a bit away since the leaves are getting big. I looked into the ph thing, got a water tester, is good for 250 tests, comes with a small flask and drops. So the tap water I had been using, I had been leaving out for 24 hours at room temp so the chlorine would die or w.e and that water tested at 7.5. I had some Bottled spring water, tested that, it was even deeper blue 7.6 or higher. The tester kit had a chart and tested ph of 6.0 - 7.6 if it was right on the money it could be equal or higher/lower. So I was pretty bummed and figured I was giving my plants some bad water, so I pulled out my brita jug. It tested low, 6.0 or lower. So I started playing with a mix of brita water and tap water. Got it down to 1/4 cup tap, 3/4 brita. PH comes out at 6.5. Sweet. So Ive mixed up a bunch of 2L bottles of 2 cups tap, 6 cups brita, and its working great. Im on day 15 today and Im going to water tomorrow morning so Im going to test the run off as well. Aside that, there was one other thing that I found odd. I have a fan rotating on high, its a small desk fan, not super strong but strong enough.
Im noticing that the stems on all 5 plants are sort of shedding. Its wierd. Here are some picks.

Hmm so anyone have an idea about those stems??. I dont think its really that important but Im curious. All is going well. Im at 2 weeks 3 days, Day 17. I was reading threw some other logs and Im confused about the nuts and all these terms like scrog and stuff like that. Im using good soil so I hadnt planned on adding nutes until week 3 or 4. Thing is, I dont know what to use, I dont know if I should even use, and I dont know whichones or how much to add. Lol. I see alot of low numbers ex- 2-6-4. Does anyone have a guideline I could use or advice on what to do. They are looking very healthy and happy. I just went out today and got 2 more 6500k 1800lumen cfls and made this niftly looking quad lamp.

WIll update in a few days. If anyone has info on nutes please let me know. On top of that Iv resolved the water issue, Im making my own mix. the plants are not yellowing any more. I cant wait to flower now that I have my carbon filter, I can already tell my appartment doesnt smell. For the past 3-4 days it has had a nice cream aromma from the 5 of them. Oh well we will see.:rastasmoke:

yeah very well done enhanced!!:thumbsup:

Those spots are nothing to worry about, they look like little water spots from water sitting on the leaves.

    keep it up!

Thanks MPL and Green, I just got lucky with the appartment I got. It has a built in closet in the wall haha and the misses finally agreeded to doing this LOL. Im very impressed with my new door, it seems to be working, although Im not sure the carbon filter is pushing enough air out. IT was keeping a bit warm, but I think with the adjustment of rooms temp it should be ok.
