I fooled with E&F, (well, more of a flow n flow, actually) for a while, but used a submerged pump and I'd wrap the pump in the toe of a nylon stocking, set the flow to "just barely", and let it drip all day. It worked, but was noisy and the roots do eventually, foul the pump.
Found out that I didn't need the flow at all and the bubble splash lured the roots into the roiling water where they flourished.
That wide leafed lady in my album grew in one of those bubba-buckets. Got too big, too fast.
