Gilroy city officials are debating whether to allow the city's first medical marijuana dispensary. If approved it would become the only store-front dispensary in Santa Clara County.

A pair of Realtors from Morgan Hill filed an application last week to open a dispensary in north Gilroy that they're calling MediLeaf.

There's nothing on the books in Gilroy prohibiting a marijuana dispensary, although city council members say they're split over whether to approve the application.

It would represent the first medical marijuana dispensary in Silicon Valley.

Currently, the closest dispensaries are in Santa Cruz and Redwood City.
