unhappy grow
Am in to 21 Days of my Lowryder grow , and my little baby is looking very unhappy , first i thought it was over watering so this morning it was the third day without water and no sign of any improvement. a little panic settled in so just gave it a light watering.
The grow is running off 1*125W red light and two little 30w blue lights running 18hours on and 6 off.
Any ideas as what the problem is here?
For 20 of the days the plant was just growing off the one red light and was happy until about 5 days ago.Dirtyotter Reviewed by Dirtyotter on . unhappy grow Am in to 21 Days of my Lowryder grow , and my little baby is looking very unhappy , first i thought it was over watering so this morning it was the third day without water and no sign of any improvement. a little panic settled in so just gave it a light watering. It doesn't look that bad. Just a little droop. soil is not my thing. Please fill out the plant problem form the best you can . It will get you alot more help. Peeps don't like asking or dragging answer out of you. At least you put up pic's, most won't do that.

fill out the troubleshooting for as loc nar recommended. you can find the link in my sig.
what size pot is that in?
don't listen to lee's advice. one of my boxes runs hotter than 28c (82f) and i don't have to water everyday.
so we can sit here and shotgun troubleshoot (you know, like when you have a shotgun filled with bird shot and fire from the hip and pick one of the random places a bb hit the target?) all day long. but it's nothing but a waste of time and bandwith.
also, a mix of 75% 6500K (blue spectrum) and 25% 2700K (red spectrum) is recommended for vegatative growth.
lee221186 (is that your name and birthday in your username?) please don't give bad advice. and yes the advice is bad because we don't know what's going on with HIS grow. every environmental factor plays a part in the correct diagnosis. so just because it works with you doesn't mean it's good for him. and if you have to water everyday you might want to look into transplanting.
dirty, i recommend learning the dry weight and the wet weight of your pot and grow medium. use your index and thumb on each hand, pick up the pot and bounce it up and down. this way you will know if they need to be watered or not. guessing is not good. just becuase the soil is dry up top doesn't necessarily mean that is is down below. you might want to stick a pencil or something in your drain hole(s) to make sure that it's not clogged.

I'm a bit confused about the 125w Red light and two 30w blue light thing. I see 2 CFLs which are presumably 23w, is that what you are referring to as the "blue lights"? It seems quite unlikely that a plant that small with that much soil relative to its size needs to be watered more than a couple of times a week.

I think the real problem stems from incadescent lights where everybody got the notion in their head that watts = light output and they don;t understand that watts is actually a measurement of used energy and actually has nothing to do with light output. Its kind of another one of those things where manufacturing companies have used poor marketting to enforce incorrect information.

Headshake has got it right, and makes excellent points.
BTW: on another board there is a mod (10K) who has in his signature this:
"How to know when to water container grown plants; lift the pot"
.Keep it civil please, gentlemen. -StinkyAttic
