I told my boy that if he wanted to toke he had permission to do it in his room with one or two friends...but put it across like I don't know. Just in case a redneck parent had a bird! As far as the disrespectful shit with I don't have to do this or that...blah, blah....he was informed that the day he thought he was man enough to make his rules stick under my roof we would take it to the back yard and the winner makes the rules.

I've never been caught (although this bitch-ho is threatening to tell my mom that I smoked) so I can get away with a lot. I really have no idea how my parents would react. My dad would be cool with me smoking possibly, definitely he wouldn't mind me drinking. My mom, on the other hand, would freak. I don't think I'm supposed to drink until I'm in college. But yeah as long as I keep getting straight A's and get into the ivy leagues I don't think my parents will ever find out.

When I was going through this stage, I learned a few things. If I acted like a loudmouth, defiant, lazy bum of a kid, my parents were confrontational. When I helped out around the house; shoveling snow, washing my own clothes, cleaning up after myself, and doing well in school, they were a lot more tolerant and understanding. When I started working, I paid a nominal rent each week. Seems like a tactic worth trying, at least. what've you got to lose?

What Looker said about deciding whether to buy food or reefer when you're on your own is a good real-world observation, along with the other things mentioned.
