    How has weed affected your life? Get your story heard

    Hi, my name is Julia and I am a Junior at City Charter High School in Pittsburgh. For my graduation project, I wanna collect stories from pot smokers around the country about how weed has affected their lives and why they think it should be legal. All entries will be anonymous, and everyone who participates will receive a free copy of the book if they choose (and if I manage to get it published later!) Stories can range from how you met your friends through weed, ways it has helped you medically, any run ins with the cops you've had relating to weed or anything else that can help make the case for legalizing weed. My book will also be open to the opinions of those who feel it is dangerous, a bad idea, ect. Spread the word, I've gotta have this project done in less than a year and I think it has great potential. your feedback would also help. Keep your lighters in the air!

    Well I take the pleasure of being first.

    When I was younger I think it affected my life moreso negatively because I let it consume my whole life. This is why I believe that it's best that you be 18 or older or be mature enough to handle it. Having immature bud smokers makes the cannabis community look worse than it is. Anyhow even when I was young it definitely opened my mind to things that I may have not otherwise found. By the time I was 15 I was already into philosophy, spirituality, and other things that people my age cared less about. It also made my experience as a muscian a much richer one. It's hard to say what it would have been with the weed but I doubt I would have opened my mind to as many genres as I did.

    Recently it has helped me make friends and get to know people better that I would have just remained acquaintances with otherwise. I think weed has alot of potential socially. It brings people together almost magically and some of those friendships end up being life long.

    I think it should be legal simply because it's benefits outweight it's negative effects and even the negative effects almost completely disappear when in the hands of a responsible user.

    I have used weed off and on since I was 18. It has helped me develop socially to a great extent. I used to be the loneliest person in the world until I started smoking weed and making those deep friendships that seem to almost magically arise from the sharing of bud.

    I have also derived great medical benefits from marijuana. I started working in a labor-intensive position in March of 2008. My parents had moved away, and I weighed more than 300 pounds with a 56 inch waist. Not long after starting that job I lost my appetite and began to lose weight at a rate of 2.5 pounds per week. That doesn't sound like much, but after a couple of months I started feeling tired all the time, and lifting boxes felt more and more strenuous. I think I was malnourished, and my calorie intake was around 700-900 per day. I started toking up again after having been "clean" for four months. It helped me start eating more, and it got rid of pains in my joints and made tolerable a severe pain in my left foot which was causing me to barely make it from my car into my house when I got home in the mornings. I worked at that job for more than a year, and I think I would have made an epic fail without the use of marijuana. I also haven't used any other drugs besides two aspirins one day in the winter when I had a sore throat. Anyone who says it diminishes instead of enhances your life doesn't know much about marijuana.

    Ever since I got busted the first time while in the Marines for 0.05 grams, I swore to myself I would never quit. And after being busted five times, I'm still at it. Finally I'm now legal, and the medical issue that makes me legal comes from the very first bust where I dislocated my knee while in the brig and I now have degenerative arthritis and need a new knee. They never operated on it or fixed it while I was still under so-called honorable service, and refuse to fix it today. The reason being the Marines and I separated company under less then honorable conditions (their reason or terminology, mine was honorable) due to my prevelance to continue to smoke cannabis while a jarhead. Hi. I starting using MJ back in 9th grade. It was just sort of the thing to do when your parents were gone for the night. By 10th grade, it slowly evolved to every weekend. I honestly think if your trying to have fun it is the safest. I don't drink, smoke cigarettes, or do anything besides weed. I started to do it more because ever since I've started I always read about it and educate myself about it. I realize it is isn't bad for you if your smart about it. I then found out my brother smoked, and I can't even describe how much or relationship has improved. We have become so much closer over these years and if I didn't find out that one night many things would be different. Soon after finding out about my brother, my friend and i purchased a vaporizer with his help and I have been living occasionally high and healthy all since.
    Getting into how it impacted my life, definetly a positive. This is because I never let it get out of control and I used it responsibly. Not to mention, it really builds a strong relationship with people. You feel so much closer with someone after you smoke with them. I hate the commercials on TV about it because it is just stereotype. Many people are uninformed about MJ and once more people realize its truth, I think it can honestly change a lot in our world.:smokin:

    How bud has affected me hmm....

    Well, I think it has made me a lot more open minded in many ways. While I was already an inquisitive person, learning about the lies spread about cannabis made me question things even more. For example, because I know a fair amount about cannabis I notice all the factual errors (read lies) made about it in newspapers which makes me wonder what else they lie about. I'd also say it is quite an introspective drug and made me look at myself, this was often hard to do because the truth can be hard to accept however it made me a much better and stronger person because I am always honest with myself. It also made me learn about pharmacology quite deeply because I realised that it was important to know what I was doing to my mind and body. I think it also had an impact on the music I listen to, as well as making me more open minded in this capacity I also think that it steered me towards classic rock, psychedelic rock, reggae etc.

    Before I started smoking my freshman year in college, I had severe chronic pain issues... Smoking alleviated a lot of the pain I was feeling, as well as lifted a good amount of anxiety and my irritable bowel syndrome.

    As someone on the autistic spectrum with very bad social anxiety, it definitely helps me to relax and to socialize with people over a bowl, rather than trying to make productive conversation while sober, or while drinking.

    Stoners are just generally more laid back people; no other substance has such a tight-knit subculture; I've seen more acts of kindness come from stoners than from any other subgroup of people.

    Not all stoners listen to Bob Marley, appear dazed and confused, wear tie dye, or grow their hair long. I've met smoking CPAs, teachers, psychologists, program directors, shy kids, and people who simply smoke to alleviate medical problems.

    We are all a community. We are all people. And we all have our own direction in life. But isn't it nice to occasionally meet up with like-minded friends, smoldering joint in hand, walking barefoot on the dirt path into the sun...

    At a young age I was exposed very heavily to weed and the whole community surrounding it. See, both my parents (now just my dad RIP mom) were growing a medium-sized crop that they would sell. However, they never really encouraged, or discouraged smoking weed, my dad just used to say "Well, whatever you do, dont be stupid" haha. But the thing was, i would always hear about these kids at my high school doin anything just to get a fuckin dime, stealin from thier parents and what not, and then there was me who had acess to literally pounds of some of the finest buds... AND I DIDNT SMOKE! haha. I dont know what it was, it was just like it was always there if i wanted it, and i had been around it so long, it didnt have very much "cool" factor to it so i never really got into it (dont get me wrong it wasnt like i NEVER smoked but it was pretty rarley). It wasnt till years later when i started getting back pain from my job (plumber :rastasmoke that i started smoking weed. haha its nice now tho cause the old man still more weed layin around his house than he could possibly smoke!

    MEDICATE SAFELY BROS! :rastasmoke::rastasmoke::rastasmoke::rastasmoke::r astasmoke::rastasmoke::rastasmoke::rastasmoke:
