    A little sprout on the side of plant. A Problem?

    I took a look at my plant, and i seen a sprout comming out to the far side of it. Im guessing that is a root that reached the top of the soil. Should i pull it out or just let it go?

    I have about a 10-12 inch pot and the sprout came up towards the rim as you can see. So what does it look like?

    you can go ahead and pull that as it isn't from your mj but rather just a weed.

    soil often has tiny little seeds already in it, even store bought mixes.

    btw, you should post a full shot of the pot and the plant so, when and if you
    run into trouble, we can help you better.

    Also a lot of store bought soils have little black flies larva in them that will hatch when water is introduced to them. So if you see them anytime in the near future don't be alarmed as they do no harm to your plants. They are just annoying little f***ing things that can be killed with use of the karate chop and swinging your arms in a circular motion! LoL

    good point and something i should have thought to mention myself. you can
    bring home spider mites that way too.

    if you top-dress your soil with diatomaceous earth on a regular basis you can
    often prevent infestations before they take hold.

    Hello Love2Grow,

    I would like to point out to you and anyone else reading this thread;

    regardless how many plants you grow, whether 1 or more, you should buy and use sterilized grow media to avoid having pests problems. Or if you make your own media you should sterilize it before you use it. Very easy to do in an oven.
    Keep it civil please, gentlemen. -StinkyAttic

    hey oldmac, i've read that sterlizing the soil kills all the beneficial bacteria and stuff. is this the case or no?
