I think it is best to wait until you have at least 3-4 nodes showing. That will usually take a coupe weeks. If you wait 4-6 weeks befor you clone, you can clone a whole army off a single plant.

After you clone you should try to give the plant 7 days before you flower.

Grow the plant vegetatively until it has five internodes. Use clean tools, cut with a razor and place in the medium of your chose. Some use root compounds some do not. Some use humidity domes some do not. If you do use a humidity dome you will have to harden the clones before you can grow them. Put under a light 24/7 water them when they need it and wait 7 to 18 days for roots to appear. Fluorescent or HID lights will work. Fluorescent light keep it real close 1" to 2" away form the tops. HID light 2.5' to 3' away from the tops.

Well the method I use is to wait a little longer when the side branches are larger so I can just take clones from the end of a branch but leave the rest of the branch to recover and still produce buds. That way cloning does not cost you bud production. Itâ??s only a method and KanMan is also right you can take the whole stock from a shoot too like 90% of the people do. I just like my cake and to eat it too well smoke it anyway.
