Vaporizer?
Vaporizers blow or draw hot air through the weed @ 390*F and below..melting the trichs and producing vapor eliminating 90% of all the BS that smoke has in it.
Smoking weed your igniting the weed with your lighter(according to various links provided by the very handy Google.com a Bic flame burns at 1977* F.)
That high temperature ativates carsonages and tars ect. in the smoke from the weed

Vaporizer?
Its in this sense that I heard smoking joints is better, because of the slow burn from the coal or heat source continually burning. Not like torching a bowl.

Middle of the lit portion: 700 deg C (or 1292 deg F)
The above numbers represent the average we obtained by performing several trials and can be considered accurate to within 50 deg C
This lower than the lighter's flame temperature will still activate all the contaminates in the Smoke
Vaporizing your not reaching the point/temperature of combustion.

Vaporizing only makes the THC melt and turn into a vapor, so you're not burning it and getting the carcinogens from the actual burning and the butane. You can get pretty fucked up off a vape bowl to the dome. Thats the pros.
The cons are that if its a real vape then your stuck to a wall (the cord) and have a limited area to work in. When using a whip and you have 3 or more people trying to get a hit it becomes more of a chore, unless you all work well together and can get a thing going.
Then personal opinion comes into play, I love hitting bongs, and smoking joints. The massive hits and the fact that I can walk from one end of my house to the other and not worry about anything except tripping over an animal. Vapes are great for body highs, I usually manage to pass out nicely after a good vape sesh. You can still get some pretty massive vapor hits, but man do they kick the shit out of your lungs.

I've never had any vaporizer "kick the shit out of" my lungs because vaporizers are in fact, EASIER on the lungs than any other inhalation method.
I would have to say the top 3 ways to consume cannabis, in order, are edibles, vaporizers, then joints. Who doesn't enjoy a good gravity bong, triple diffused ice water bong, blunt, hookah, etc. Vaporizers or no vaporizers, you will always have the traditional heads.:hippy:

All in all, vapor is MUCH better for your lungs than any kind of smoking device. You just don't get all those toxins that are in smoke.
But there will always be those that prefer a blunt or a bong, but there are also some bong vapes (Herborizer) or vapes that are meant to work with bongs (VripTechs) that can make the transition a bit easier.Current Vapes: Purple Days

Iwien I am aware of most of this, I never bothered with a cordless or a volcano for the terrible review of long time users.
By the lungs remark I wasn't saying pain-wise, just that it'll make you cough strongly for a couple minutes.
And yes, that is true, I have gotten a good amount of energetic highs, that soon turn into a couchlockish one. I figure this is because I really only vape at night and do it for sleep when I do. I guess its the tired feeling I have that changes it for me.
I still manage to utilize some of the former high before I go to sleep however, usually through a hardcore match in a FPS with my clan mates. That being because I don't have too much of a life.
Oh, and those vaporizing bowls for bongs discourage me, since the vapor consists of THC and pretty much only that, wouldn't a good portion bind to the water? This question came up when people started talking about "bongs don't actually get you higher, the thc will bind to the water!" and the counter arguement being "With all that smoke its insignificant!"
That and you still need a lighter which would add back some carcinogens.
