    Gunna be moving to SD

Hey everyone just introducing my self ill be moving from PA to SD in July. just after some music festivals are over.

Ive been lurking around here for a little now and one have main question.

When i was younger i was diagnosed with AD/HD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) Its a form of ADD. And had pretty much been a curse my whole life. I used to take alot of med from the doctors like Ritalin,
Deproco, cylert there are a few more. But the point is they never helped me they turned me into a zombie and i was not my self. And it turns out that the Ritalin gave me some weird uncontrollable ticks with my shoulder. So around the age of 15 my mom stopped me from taking all medication. And around the age of 17 i found marijuana to first off calm my hyper activity down and secondly it calmed my ticks downs and third off it made me more focused on my school work.

So in a nut shell i wanted to know what you guys think my chances are of getting a recommendation. so i don't have to worry about getting in trouble in a new home.

^ well . . . i don't live in California and I'm not a doctor but, from what you've said above, I think you would definately qualify. SD ain't SF but still I think you will be eligible.

If I were you, I would contact Dr Claudia Jenson at USC up in Los Angeles (if she is still there). This is her specialty and I bet she would love to talk to you about your experience. Good luck and let us know how you do out there.

Cannabis replaces Ritalin in treating ADD / ADHD

    2-5-`07 | pr.CannaZine.co.uk

Dr Claudia Jenson, who is a consultant pediatrician from USC, has come up with a novel way of treating ADD/ADHD, WITHOUT any of the unwanted side effects which can result from using popularly prescribed medicines.

Attention deficit Disorder, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) is a biological, brain based condition that is characterized by poor attention and distractibility and/or hyperactive and impulsive behaviors. It is one of the most common mental disorders that develop in children. Symptoms can continue into adolescence and adulthood.

If left untreated, ADHD can lead to poor school/work performance, poor social relationships and a general feeling of low self esteem.

The normal course of treatment for a child diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, is a course of methylphenidate, better known as Ritalin.

Methylphenidate (MPH) is a prescription stimulant commonly used to treat Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. It is also one of the primary drugs used to treat the daytime drowsiness symptoms of narcolepsy and chronic fatigue syndrome. The drug is seeing early use to treat cancer-related fatigue.

As always there is a flip-side to these prescription drugs, and in the case of Ritalin, substance abusers have found various ways to ingest the drug recreationally, which gives an effect similar to cocaine or amphetamine so the use of ritalin is to be closely monitored.

For the child diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, the side effects of using Ritalin, are many, including psychosis (abnormal thinking or hallucinations), difficulty sleeping, stomach aches, diarrhea, headaches, lack of hunger (leading to weight loss) and dry mouth. In some cases, the use of Ritalin has led to death.

If Ritalin or its side effects, are causing your children problems, ask your doctor about using marijuana as an alternative.

Check the video out for what Dr. Claudia Jenson, a Consultant Pediatrician from USC has to say on the subject.

There's a lot of different medical reasons a doctor can cite in giving you a recommendation here in CA, all you really need to be sure to have for the recommending doctor are some legit medical records that document whatever condition it is for which you are seeking relief. Anything short of that & you might have issues getting your recommendation (depending on the doctor), but if you do have records in hand I believe you're golden.

ohhh, so sorry! how sad I really liked her. Glad it helped, tho. Let us know how you do. I have a family member is was diagnosed with ADHD and they have him on pills. I really worry about him, he lost a lot a weight, can't sleep at night and was getting nervous ticks, although those seemed to have stopped. I've been reading Driven to Distraction and Delivered from Distraction by Edward Hallowell and John Ratey, trying to understand it better myself.

I wonder if Dr. Jensen's research is still going on at 'SC with her grad students and other doctors there? I would hope so. UCSD probably has some good research going on there too about ADD. Good luck in Cali. I was born in so cal and lived there for years, you should love 'San Diek', its a great town! :smokin:

^ You might not even need to leave Penn to be able to get med cannabis if this bill passes. i think you should contact your State Rep and explain to him how much cannabis has helped you and how you are going to have to leave your home state and move to California just to be able to get relief.

Or just go to Cali anyway. :smokin: me and a buddy of mine did the same thing when i was 19, we packed up everything we could in our cars and headed to southern Cal from Missouri. i loved every minute of it and glad i did. California is hella expensive, but the UC's and State Colleges are some of the best and they are practically free. at least they used to be, but i haven't lived there for about 13 years, i moved right before prop 215. . . dohhh!! ..

but seriously contact your state rep and help make Penn number 14!! :greenthumb: we would all give you the credit for it if it happened.

I got my card issued from a doctor in san diego (medi cann). Bring your med. records, at least 120 bucks and youll most likely have your card the same day. Welcome to the real land of the free and enjoy when you arrive. Im from Maryland so I know the difference well. Peace
