If failed, have question for you

Hey guys, just had a question for people who failed their urine test for pre-employment.


How long after you took the test did you get notice that you failed and from who? Did you get a call from your employer or the lab that tested you? It's been 3 days now since I took my urine test and haven't heard from anyone regarding the test. I don't know if I should be worried. Thanks

Give your employer a call and ask for your "start date". The employers answer would indicate whether you passed and got the job, or not. Never inquire about the test results. That makes it look bad for you.

I already had my start date when I took the test. I never heard anything, ever!

I know our HR person just doesn't call back the ones with failed drug tests.. I'm pretty sure she never calls them to tell them they failed. Burnt is right, just call and ask for your start date.

Thanks for your feedback on this. @suzieque - what city and state was your test? Was it a government job?

The job I had to get a drug test for is a government job and your department needs to get word from Human Resources that you passed the test before giving you a start date.

They are still processing some final paperwork but haven't mentioned anything about the test. It's been a week since I took the test, don't you think they would've called me to tell me that I failed? Would they really let me continue to complete the required paperwork after having failed the drug test?

Seriously, they will never mention your test. They may say "all your paperwork is in order" meaning your background check and drug screen came back ok, but they will never get as excited as we do when we find out we passed. It is seriously expected.

How much more paperwork do you have to do?

drug test procedure varies from employer to employer

at the temp agency i went to... after the interview they took me to the bathroom, had me give a sample and tested it right in front of me with one of those cup tests similiar to what you can buy at the store. they also do this a lot at fast food or grocery/department stores.

other places contract out with a lab and after your interview, hand you a "chain of custody" form and instruct you to go to the lab to do your drug test. we can check online whether or not a new hire has passed.

Well thanks again but I got notice today that everything is in order and I got a start date (I'll assume that mean's I passed the test =)). Good to know it only took 9 days to get clean after moderate usage.
