    Laws in Texas?

I'm thinking of moving to Austin, TX next year around August. One of my buddies who goes to college there tells me that there are no grow laws in Texas, and that having up to a quarter pound is a simple ticket in the county that Austin is located in. Anybody know if this is true or not? If it does happen to be true I might just have to relocate to Texas a little sooner.

    Laws in Texas?

austin is located in travis county. as far as i know, it has the same laws as everywhere else in texas. up to two ounces is a class B misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $2000 and up to 180 days in jail. 2-4 ounces is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $4000 and up to a year in jail.

4 ounces can also be considered a state jail felony, punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and up to 2 years in state jail.

as far as all of those are concerned, with no prior felony convictions, if convicted of possession of less than one pound of marijuana a judge must impose a sentence of probation with mandatory drug treatment. If no treatment center exists within the jurisdiction, the judge may waive the treatment requirement. They judge can also waive all fines.

you can check it out here.

they also passed a law in 2007 that states a police officer can issue a citation for up to a 1/4 pound of weed. good luck with that though!

also, there is currently legislation in the state house of reps. that will make it a class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500 and no jail time can be given.

    *crosses fingers*

    hope this helps.

So if you have 4 plants in bloom, would the weight be the entire plant, or just the actual amount of bud you would get off of it? that would be a big difference.

they would probably use the weight of the entire plant (while wet, including roots).
