Supposed Alaskan Thunder F*ck Seeds/Grow room setup

Hey everyone this is my first post on cannabis.com but I've been browsing here for a while now.

Not to long ago I stumbled onto some seeds :thumbsup: in a 1/2 ounce I got from a friend of mine. He told me it was Alaskan Thunder F*ck. I'd like to throw in, that it was the best mj I've smoked. Now I've been looking online and everywhere I've been reading says it doesn't exist anymore, but strains like it do. I can't find any information about growing this strain.

I'm planning on building small grow room in my closet. I was thinking to do soil, it seems to be the best for my first grow. Luckily my closet has a crawl space access, so ventilation will be cake. I can exhaust out a vent from under the house, and intake air from under the house. I'm not to worried about temperature either. The lighting seems to be the most elusive thing for me. http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-li...uch-light.html recommends a minimum of 2000 lumens per square foot, and 3500 being a good aim.

The closet I'm working with is 55" long x 36" wide. That gives me 13.75 square feet. So with 3500 being the aim I'd need a little over 48,000 lumens. I was hoping to use CFLs. But that would have me needing over 18 lights. I was hoping to use 4 or so. Positioned around the plant. I'm hoping that this will be plenty.

The other option I have is flouorescent lights, but I haven't read much about them.

I was looking for any insight/advice about both the seeds and the grow room.

either put up some walls to fit just the amount u want to grow, or have u considered hps? 400w cooltube hooked up to a inline with carbon filter :thumbsup:

If you are looking to grow just one plant, then cfl's is probably the way to go. I don't think you were going to grow a 13 sq.ft. plant, so you probably won't need the 18 lights (depending on what size the lights are of course). CFL grows just seem so slow to me, so even if your strain is indica dominant, you can add a week or two at least to veg and flowering times...

But, how many plants were you going to grow? And how serious do you want to get ($)? I agree with stinkybudz that a 400w hps + cooltube + inline fan + carbon filter is the way to go, especially with the space you have. Even if you get only one female, you can clone her and fill up that closet nicely. Just my :twocents:

I'm not sure this will help you with the Alaskan ThunderFuck but a few months back on a thread about starting seeds at 12/12, I went thru some records and came up with a photoperiod schedule I had used for it.
(I tried to link the post here but could not....I suck at computers.) So here's a re-write:

"Back in '72 I did an indoor grow of Alaskan Thunderfuck from beans.
Seeds where started using 12/12.
At day 10, the photoperiod was increased 1/2 hour,
and every day 1/2 hour was added.
At day 34 they are at 24/0, stayed that way for 10 days.
At day 44, photoperiod was decreased 1/2 hour,
and every day another 1/2 hour was subtracted.
Plants finished, buds matured by the time it hit 10/14,
day 72.

BTW: back then I was using 8' T12 VHO power twist Vita-Lites full spectum flourescents, 8 of them. Grow space abt 2'x8'."

The whole object, I guess, was to simulate the outdoor grow conditions of norhtern Alaska. I had gotten the seeds from a friend that lived just outside Fairbanks, who grew outdoors there. (he had to, he lived beyond the electric grid.)

If you only have a few beans, I would suggest growing them out carefully (and conventionally) and make a mother, or breed some more seeds to have.

I was only looking to grow 2 plants max. At least for now :thumbsup: I'm not looking to make money, just supply my own and have some fun doing it :hippy:

I'm looking to go fairly cheap for now. I'll install ventilation and a filter, hopefully mylar the inside of the closet, and its down between CFLs or tube lights. I'm not concerned about the price difference between the two, but more on which will be more efficient energy wise. I was thinking about buying a T5 4ft grow light. And use the 54W bulbs. But would 4 bulbs be enough if I slimmed down the room?

My hope is to get a few females and be able to pick the best one and clone her

Thanks for the tip on the lighting. I think I'll definetly give that a try. Do you happen to remember the temps you were at? I wasn't sure if I should lower the temperature a little.

I'm working a lot at the moment and saving to do this right. But I wanted to plan all that I could now, so I can focus on the problems that may happen later.
