Dose level (of which cannabinoid) needed to shorten R.E.M. duration ?
By this point, we have all read/seen/heard this:
Madsci.org Article:Re: What are the hamful effects of marijuana?
Regardless of how conclusive the study is, let's take it at face value....
...It states that low doses may produce drowsiness, and high doses may actually shorten the duration of the REM sleep period.
I am curious:
1. which of the cannabinoids or constituents in resin glands is/are responsible ?
2. how high of a dose of this/these cannabinoids is needed to produce this undesirable effect ?
If we can isolate which compound produces this effect, we can then study the temperature at which it vaporizes, and hope that it is above 392*F....
Vaporization solves all problems related to combustion, and discovering which cannabinoid is responsible for decreasing REM duration at high doses, would be one more significant hurdle in perfecting our responsible use of this wonderful plant in a medical context.
Any comments, discussion, or information GREATLY appreciated.

Dose level (of which cannabinoid) needed to shorten R.E.M. duration ?
Well... ive noticed that after smoking indicas (richer in CBD cannabidiol), that are the relaxing, mellowing strains, i sleep more heavily, and seem to dream less (or to remember less dreams)... as dreaming is related to the REM sleep (if im not mistaken we only dream during the REM sleep), i would risk to say that the CBD is the substance that causes it. But its only a guess, and i may be completly wrong, so dont take my oppinion more seriously than it deserve.

^Well, from my personal use, I would tend to agree about heavy, stout indicas.
I just found something from a newer study, not sure how accurate or conclusive, as it may just apply to smokers using for the first time in several days/weeks:

Very interesting, and I think strains highest in delta-8-thc may be best for MMJ patients seeking Cannabis' positive properties, while still needing long periods of REM sleep to maximize tissue repair.
I will continue researching.
Thank you.
