"foul" language....is it really or just words

I had a good burn session one day and remered a thread I saw where a member bashed on foul mouths and even mods that permit it. This got me to thinking about my take on "foul" language. Me personally I think they are just words meant to convey a more highted expression. Who was the guy that decided to put letters S, H, I and T together to give a more intense "nickname" to describe this natural yet some how taboo bodily function. Who then decided that these or any descriptors or simply "letter combinations" we use to communicate, were unacceptable for others. Who was the literary expert that drew the line just after "dookie" or "poop"? This word is one example but I think this applies to all words IMO. This just seems to be a common sense principle. some people have different tastes and methods of every aspect of life. If is not for you, do what you choose for "yourself". Why must we spend time being judgemental of such simple things. Doing so seems the same as prohibition, wether it be cannabis or any other herb or spirits. Using the KISS method.... what kind of power hungry yutz decided that only a few select "elite" were allowed to let their barley, hops, rice, fruit, or potato ferment or, no one was permitted to put a flame to an herb they found growing? I always try to be kind and respectful of others but honestly...If you dont like to fight, walk away..if you dont like drugs, dont partake...dont like to see, dont watch...hear, dont listen....yada yada. Just "Deep thoughts with Jack Handy" lol Whats your thoughts

We have a 1st Amenedment that guarantees this. But still its upto individuals to show a little restraint once in a while. I'm an avid cusser and find myself in trouble once in a while for using words to reinforce my position.

man when i was in iraq...swearing was a sport. get a bunch of construction workers together, put them in Navy uniforms and stick them in the middle of the desert...yeah we swore a lot. nothing wrong with swearing. although i did have to tone it down quite a lot on my return home. time and a place. just like everything.

I hear ya, I stay in trouble with my extreme conservative bible thumping family members, now its just kinda funny and I always mess with them. No real serious shocker words tho. I just get a chuckle sometimes at very intelligent yet silly blind sheep that follow in line with something without being completelysure why it was they do or do not support something. I just try to take a simple and common sense approach to everything and with language, it just comes down to the fact that a word is just a link in a chain of many that we use to communicate with each other and some meant to be more expressive than others. an octave above another, same as music. Does it really make one word "bad" and another "good"?

Interesting but who made the F word a swear word in the first place, was it someone that just thought it sounded bad and spread it around that it was a swear word so they did not have to hear it to often.
Swearing is just curse words like when you hit your thumb with a hammer.
Personally i like the word cunt its a nice sound.:hippy::stoned:

The funny thing is I just started watching Hell's Kitchen UK and the "f word" obviously isn't viewed the same over there as it is in the US! I too have a mouth like a trucker at times.. but when your grandparents have no problem calling each other "sh*thead" and the like, whaddaya expect?

Aye those Chefs are temperamental and they can swear at the drop of a hat
When I was young swearing was a no no in front of the female gender like if you swore in a pub (bar) where there where women were you it would be likely end up with your front teeth knocked out or two black eyes.
These days the women are as bad as the men for swearing if not worse.

:S2: prob wont find too many women that share those feelings. lol What does the "one" think of it? I use the juvenile "twot did you say, I cunt hair you?" Wife smacks me every time. I'm just a big kid and try to put humor to as much in life as I can and think that is a better approach than letting chronic pain turn me into a totally unbearable prick.
