Quick Fix and a digital thermometer?

I plan on using quick fix for an upcoming test and I don't want to rely solely on the strip thermometer to give me an accurate reading. My testing facility is about an hour away, but from what I've read it won't be hard to keep the urine at the right temperature for that amount of time. My one question, however, is if I purchase a digital thermometer, where do I take the reading? Do i put the thermometer into the sample before I pour into the testing cup? Do I take the reading after I pour? Will putting a non-sterilized thermometer into the sample contaminate it?

    Thanks for the help!

Well I don't think you need to worry about another way to check the temperature but if you do get a digital thermometer make sure you get one that doesn't beep because they listen outside the bathroom door. I have not only had qf crotched with the heat pad on it for over a hour but the last couple times I used a heat pad I checked it every hour and it was warm 6 hours later.

You can also use the stick on baby temperature strips and suzieque can tell you more about them. Anyway watch out for the beeping thermometers. Good luck...

    Thanks jeffman!

So, I put Quick Fix in Microwave right before I leave for ~10 seconds, plop on a heat pad, drop into two layers of underwear and I should be good to go when I arrive at the test??

Also, it's safe to heat and reheat the quickfix correct? When I get it I want to do a run-through scenario and heat it up in the mic and keep it in my pants and check the temperature

The QF can be heated and reheated over and over.

If you happen to pour the Qf in the cup and its a little low. Rub your thumb against your clothes for a few seconds and then hold it against the temp strip on the cup. When it reads 98 step out of the room.

Yes to everything. Practice with the qf but save the heat pad for the day of the test. You'll be fine. Good luck and make us proud...

Quick Fix and a digital thermometer?

Today was the day. I loaded up the Quick Fix and heating pad and headed out to take my test. Half way through the drive i took it out and it was actually overheated, just a little over 100. Anyway, went to the test, subbed out the quick fix and registered about 96 degrees... perfect.

So now, I just wait and hope that I don't get a phone call, but it seems like as long as you get the right temp and no one says anything to you in-lab you are good to go. Thanks for all the advice! This is a great opportunity and it would be a shame to have to give it up
