droopy leaves :(

i just switched from 2 CFL's to a CFL and a t5 tube for my week old seedlings yesterday. when i check em this morning, my prize plant's leaves are really droopy and i noticed that the soil was relatively dry, so i watered. i also checked the roots, and they are a lot hitting the side of the cup. Even though it's only on its 3rd set of true leaves, could it possibly be time to transplant? My plant looks really sad right now and I ant to make it happy again haha :smokin:

can you raise the t5 a little higher? maybe just light shock. check on them again in several hours, or a day, see if they've recovered.

Doubt that it is light shock. What size of pot you have them in? When was last watering before this one? How do you check roots in a cup?

Not enough info, pics, anything to give you an answer.

definitely not rootbound at that young age ... are the cups dry all the way to the bottoms ? ... check and see if the cups are draining well, sometime water will sit in the bottom, and screw up the plant ... drooping can be caused by over-watering, or under-watering, only the grower can figure which situation he has ... and, you should not be adding ANY fertilizers in the first 2 weeks of growth ... then, fight the urge to fertilize after that, most problems are caused by too many additives, then trying to correct situations ... plant also is drawing nutrients from the soil, in addition to your additives, easy to step over the line (remember, it's a weed) ... good growing :thumbsup:

sorry for the lack of info/visuals - i dont have a camera so bear with me. i have the t5 at about 1.5 - 2 inches away from the plants, so i doubt it's the lights. the cup i have it in is draining well but i forgot to add perlite in the beginning so i think the soil is compacting too much. i am not using any fertilizers, and when i do fertilize it will be something that isnt too overpowering, like worm castings or a bit of bat guano. i have the plants in 20 oz soda bottles, but i might just transplant the droopy one to a cup with fresh starter soil and perlite added. would transplanting in it's droopy state hurt it even more?

also, i have the plants in clear bottles wrapped in black construction paper, so just by unwrapping the the construction paper i can check the roots. The soil was pretty dry when i checked this morning, so i gave it a good watering.

sounds like you're doing most of it right, but the bottles may be a problem ... are there generous drain holes ? (plastic bottles, I assume), I see you said it drains well ... definitely add Perlite when you transplant, I like about 25-30% perlite to soil, myself ... also, some plants need to spread their roots wide, others like narrow and deep ... I would transplant them all into larger, conventional pots, if they are rooting well ... and, yes, even healthy plants get a little stressed when transplanted ... usually, only a matter of a couple days' slowed growth, no biggie ... do a couple at a time, make sure you don't lose them all at once ... good luck...

i'm going to see how its feeling tomorrow morning and if it's still droopin' im gonna transplant to another container with the proper amount perlite for aeration.

Plastic Bottles? Light Hitting The Roots At All? Cause I thought roots hated light specially at such a young age...?
