Dark Cycle In Vegetation Period
Hey Guys
Firstly i understand the importance of darkness during the plants flowering stage but is it as crucial whilst in VEG? (only tiny light leaks..)
Secondly i would like to thank everyone for their advice without which i would have never ventured into growing my own personal stash :smokin:tristan1986 Reviewed by tristan1986 on . To answer your question, no its not as important. Roots grow more during dark cycles, so a lot of growers use an 18/6 light schedule to promote more root growth. In my grows I used a 20/4 once and 24/0 once, and noticed only a little more root growth with 20/4, but noticeably faster growth above ground with 24/0. Some say you should have the dark period in veg, others say it really doesn't matter. In the end, I think each grower finds what works best for them through their own experiences
p.s. Now would be a good time to fix those light leaks

Yeah i have read about different people commenting on different lighting schedules although my main issue is that there is 'some' light coming into the room. Not much but just checking if total darkness is necessary during veg?
Thanks
p.s yeah the light leaks are being fixed shortly, just a bit lazy right now lolQuote:

Hmm... what kind of light? Is it shining directly on the plants, or is it reflected off a wall? How far does the light have to travel before reaching the plants? If you are inside the grow area, can you see your hand when it's dark?
If there are significant light leaks, then I would just veg 24/0 until the leaks get sealed up... then you can switch to 18/6 or 12/12.
I have not heard of light leaks during veg causing hermies (that would be your main concern I imagine) , but I would like to know if it has happened to someone...(?)

basically i have those vertical blinds that have little gaps at either end and aren't 100% affective at keeping out light. Also my 'light' period is actually at night to combat daytime temperatures.
Thanks allot for the input and i think i'll just install the reflective material i already have. (Laziness on my behalf lol)
Beautiful :thumbsup:Quote:
