Is Sublime reuniting?
Have Sublime Reunited? - News Story | Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV News
I think this is pretty cool. I feel there has been an uprising in chill music coming out of cali, and other areas. Right now would be a great time for Sublime to come out with another album. The new guitar player/singer is called Rome, a chill stoner from L.A... I think he's real talented.
To curb my enthusiasm, I've been listening to "The Dirty Heads" which have a real mellow track called "Stand Tall" and "Believe". I'd be all over a Sublime reunion...just the thought of it makes me giddy.:jointsmile:Spoken Word Reviewed by Spoken Word on . Is Sublime reuniting? i think this would go into the music thread...

Hmmm, that's kinda close minded... No one really wants to replace Bradley, he was one in a million. Gifted song-writer, great guitar player, awesome singer...that doesn't come by so often. He also had perfect pitch which explains his SOUL and harmony. Instead of looking at it like, Bud and Eric are REPLACING him, why can't it be-that they are simply keeping the band alive...I'm almost positive Bradley would want that. No one really knows Bud and Eric's plans...but one thing is for sure, they'll do what they want, regardless of what the fans want. If they called themselves, "Sublime Ft. Rome" would it be different?
I say, let the two members strike while the irons hot. Do you know how much the "Sublime" brand is worth now? is it better for someone else to get rich simply because they own the name? While TWO surviving members are still alive and kicking? No, "IMO" i don't think that's fair. I get the opinion that, "Nirvana isn't Nirvana without Kurt," "the Dead isn't the Dead without Jerry,"...it's such a close minded mentality though.
"IMO" no one wants to replace Bradley, they just want to make good music. I think they even have a new song on youtube. I, for one, am happy that Bud and Eric are playing songs live and trying to keep the Sublime spirit alive. Out of 100000000000000 musicians that have tried to convince them that they are the next "Brad", here is one they chose.
Forgive the looong reply, I just don't think Sublime is worth three little lines. I'm an avid fan and have bought countless memorabilia. And I'm actually really excited about the idea of having one of my favorite bands reunite.

For sure bro. It would be the best thing in the world to hear sublime live again. I missed their last show in cali before Brad passed on. I will never forgive myself for having missed that show. It's good to hear another person that loves their music.
Respect.

I love Sublime but I don't know about replacing Brad. Blind Melon got lucky with their replacement for Shannon Hoon because he sounds almost identical. Sublime is another unique sound that is hard to imitate. I'm always open to listening if they release new material. So many under rated bands out there. I agree with a previous comment that this belongs in the Music thread.:hippy:

If they wanted to keep playing together, why not create another new group. They already did it once with the Long Beach Dub Allstars. I'm with 4204Life, I'll give it a listen...but I have a sinking feeling that this reincarnation won''t be able to overcome the loss of Brad.

Guys, I just said that I don't think anyone wants to replace Brad...........Brad is irreplaceable. If Bud and Eric, you know, the guys that knew Brad the best....want to sit on a stage and play Sublime songs with this new guy Rome--one must let them be and just ride along.
again, I DON'T THINK ANYONE WANTS TO REPLACE BRAD!!! This is coming from someone who is very protective over Brad's voice. Something tells me that Brad would want this......it's not like they are saying, "yea, this guy is better than Brad." That's ridiculous. Brad Nowell was an astounding musician.
I'm glad at least ONE fan from socal is with me here.....
oh and Ras couldn't imitate Brad if his life depended on it... Long beach all stars were a good group but they were their own. Bud and Eric feel this guy has what it takes...

Right on! I'd fully support a reunion with a new member to the Sublime family
It's just a small new flavor, and who knows, the sound could end up becoming as familiar as Brad's awesome voice! :stoned:

If they just wanted to keep playing music, they could have done that without calling themselves sublime. If they wanted to keep playing sublime songs they could have done that without calling themselves sublime.
By getting together with some new guy, though and calling themselves sublime is just a way for them to make some rent. If it wasn't why do it.
Not saying it'll be bad, I'll give it a listen. But I'm not expecting anything great either.
