From what I've read on here No. They will get root bound. The roots need to be able to grow and if there's no room to grow you plant freaks out. From seedling to Harvest you should at least transfer your plant 3 times making sure your last pot is big enough to hold all it roots. I like to finish in a 5 gallon pot.

Size problem is a little vague... Do you have height restrictions? Better yet, what size is your grow space (L x W x H)? what kind of lights and how much? how many plants? what strain (indica/sativa/hybrid)? clones or seeds? anything else that needs to fit in the grow area (carbon filters, fans)?

Small grow spaces can work out great, but I have not seen many...Little more details and it'll be easier to help, or at least throw some ideas at ya

    I see SmartPots(r) haven't made it here...

Container Gardening, Hydroponic Gardening with Smart Pots Fabric Containers

No, I'm not involved with nor do I know the owners, and i'm not a sales rep of any kind. I'm just a very satisfied user.

many of us in Oregon are using them and finding them most excellent for our plants. I have grown nice little individual scrogged plants in 3 gallon smart pots. no root binding. I got 1.5z each (white widow).

hmm... that's a tough situation. I hate to say it's hopeless, because it's not, but it's very difficult to make it work

    Here's my :twocents:

Clones will be the best to work with, because their root mass is smaller compared to plants from seeds. With a typical indica or hybrid (about 7-9 weeks flowering) you will need a 5 gal to finish in, if it is from seed. If it is a clone, you could probably get away with a 3 gal to finish in. This applies to soil growing with standard veg and flowering times. If you veg for a shorter time, you can keep the root mass smaller.

Here's a log that was unfortunately ended early, but there is a link to another grow which he was trying to copy. In that grow, the guy grew tiny clones in gatorade bottles. http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-gr...st-grow-2.html Go to post #39 and he's got the link in there.

You could try a mini- dwc setup, search the forums for a guy named "Treetops"... he grows in coffee cans.

You will need more light, cfl's would work nicely. Shake's got a nice little log going, you could get some ideas from there also.

Depending on number of plants, but you can LST, top, fim, or scrog to keep the plant(s) lower.

It really comes down to the most important questions of all... What are your expectations for this grow? And how much $$$ are you willing to invest?

    Good luck
