The parades are a way of expressing themselves and yes some become over expressive but in the every day life we don't run around with our asses hanging out...

just regular people.. we watch movies, we eat, we can read, we have feelings, and we care.

i dont have children of my own, but i have a lot of siblings from age 2 to age 13.

i dont believe in public display in front of children, not just for gays but for anyone..
As I said, I didn't think you sounded like someone who acted like that. I'm simply trying to point out where a lot of the distain is coming from. No, obviously all gay people are not the extreme, but the ones who are breed distain from the opposition.

The point is merely, that yes, celebrating your way of life is one thing, but particularly in San Francisco, it has turned into a public display of debauchery (sp).

The reason it has many condoning the whole gay community though, is that very few within in it come out and say anything about those acts. It has to the point where I feel many in your community try and disgust people, as if to say, "I told you so, their all ignorant bigots who are disgusted by our lifestyle." I think a lot of them take the whole, "except me how I am thing to far."

I highly doubt the majority are like the extremes, however I can see the oppositions fear, when very few within the gay community speak about the debauchery in public and fail to ridicule the members who are doing it.

My only point is this, I honestly feel the gay pride parades in San Fran only harm everything you are fighting for, at least in the way they are now. If it were a bunch of people acting "normal" their probably wouldn't be as much back lash, instead I get the impression, many try and act as perverse and abnormal as possible in order to make a statement. The statement has been heard loud and clear however, and it does not resonate well with the general population.

If they acted that way at private parties it would be one thing, but in a public display it is a completely different matter.

By the way, I'm not talking about holding your partners hand or kissing them passionately in public, I'm talking about the specific acts that border on the pornographic and the members who purposefully try as hard as they can to not conform at all.
