I'm thinking of doing a 4' 4' 8' in my bedroom, not going to clone yet and waiting on Hashish Bags. I want to save money but after reading this site for a couple of months I've learned that when you cut corners the bud suffers. Here is what I've come up with (keeping in mind that I live in a rented old apartment with a non existent landlord) : 2 can 33 charcoal filters 239.90; 2 600 W Hortilux HPS bulbs 160; 2 600 W Lumatek Digital Ballasts $379.90 ; Socket assembly 49.00; 2 Sunlight Supply cool Sun Reflectors 378.00; 1,200 free shipping from ecoenterprises for the above mentioned ,Visqueen plastic 10' by 100' 75.95; Sun shine soiless mix 35.95; Various nutrients: Floros, Tiger Bloom, ect. 200, 2 Stanley blower fans with mods 150
These other items are guesstimates: Perlight, hydrometer, PH Balance test, Dead Bolt (ounce of prevention), 10' of 6'' duct, duct tape, screws, hooks, surge protector, staple gun, staples, 2 5 Gal buckets with lids, Green light bulb, 2 24 hour timers, 2 heavy duty extension cords, 15ftn of nylon rope, 15 3 gal pots blk/taller than wide/with saucer and drainage holes in the bottom and various wood for infrastructure. My figure is around 1800. Due to wattage problems I'm plugging the lights in the main room and the 900W A/C unit and other various items in another. I was wondering if any one knows how I can save some money with out cutting corners or sacrificing quality? If I'm using nutrient should I also use molasses or is that over kill? Any suggestions on micro nutrients for each stage? Also did I forget any thing?
I would like to thank you for reading all this and I consider this site a blessing. Reading this forum has increased my knowledge ten fold. You people don't get payed for your help but offer it any way and that's very commendable, the definition of community. Thank youPeterpotatoes Reviewed by Peterpotatoes on . Hey man, you could make your own carbon filters and/or cool tube with a reflector.. The store bought stuff will probally be more legit but if you got some time you could see what you can piece together there are some damn good tutorials all over the net.
Are you going to have a veg room, a dark room, and a light room or hows your set up going to be planned out? What style grow are you going for, normal sized plants, monsters, SOG or what? With a dark room you can put your plants in at night, or a light slider you can use half the light and have the same amount of bud flowering..
So many options man, it's mind boggling... Wish I had a good place for indoor.
EDIT: I've read molasses and nutrients are cool @ the same time, just be careful not to feed em too many nutes.

In a 4X4 room you do not need 2 600w lights, 1 is fine. ebay or craigslist are good for finding used equipment. You can buy some of that stuff in stages. You should not need the filter for at least a month. The additional supplies you added should not cost near $1800.
You may want to start small with some bagseed to get evrything dialed in. I think you will find you do not need as much as you think for that size space. 15 plants in a 4x4 room can be done, if done right, but I would start smaller. But that is me, good luck.
If you look at the link in my sig, that is a 4x4x7 room, for reference.

You can get a DUAL 600w digital ballast and save some cash if you plan on using two 600w bulbs... nothing wrong with that although one would suffice. I would get the dual ballast though in case you want to add a second one later should you chose to go with one for now. Try to get air-cooled hoods, and there is nothing wrong with HTG (high tech garden supply).
FORGET THAT EXPENSIVE BLACK PLASTIC unless you NEED the white side (mylar is WAY better!) Go to Lowe's and get their "builder's plastic." I believe it is either 4 or 5 mm thick, and a roll of 10' x 100' is only 8 or 9 bucks!!!! I used it to divide my room into a work area/flowering room and it has done a marvelous job! If you do not have a heavy duty staple gun, pick one up while you're there (and the staples to go with it, of course). -Side note: if you are planning on stapling the plastic to the walls and ceiling, add a thin piece of cardboard under the plastic when stapling... helps prevent tears-
Make your own carbon filter. The "diy carbon scrubber" on this site is great! It knocks the smell out in 30 minutes or so... run it twice a day and you're set!!!
Molasses are "carbs" for plants. You only want to give them carbs once you've initiated flowering-once you start, continue until it is time to flush. I highly recommend Liquid Kool Bloom for a carb... it's not that expensive. Either way you go... molasses and other "carbs" are to be used WITH your nutrient program... consider them a booster.... like nitrous oxide on a car. It just makes things go faster and better. Don't overdo it though! :rastasmoke:
Make a note of WHICH timers you purchase! Look at the increments of on/off capability. I have more timers than I can use! There are ones with 1 minute, 15 minute, 30 minute, 1 hour, 2 hours, and so forth increments. For instance: you wouldn't want a timer with an increment of 2 hours if you were using it on an ebb-n-flow water pump, right??? If you can look at the timer up close before you buy it, play with the settings on it. Make sure it's easy to use. Not insulting your intelligence, either. I have one with 2hr increments and it's damn near impossible to set up a 12/12 cause the marks aren't on the spot for the times.... sorry for that rambling.
