Let's start at the finish line!

Now that I have you guys' attention!

I'm looking for max yield... who isn't?

This picture is the best I can do to describe the room. At the moment, I have 1 girl in the corner of the flowering room under a 400w HPS vented with a 4" fan into the ceiling. I have 5 BEAUTIFUL indicas, each in their own 5 gal bubbler bucket and ONE massive clone of the aforementioned plant in flower - all under a 4 foot 4 bulb T5 @6400k vented by the same type of fan that exhausts the HPS. That seems to be working well. There is a black divider between the work room and the flowering room, and the veg room is a closet with two sliding doors. Everything has been light proofed and temperatures are not a problem, yet.

I NEED MORE LIGHT for what I'm about to do!!!!

I am in week 4 of flower and have buds ALL OVER her. They are about the size of my pinkey finger and growing daily. I have some premature yellowing, but I fear that's due to nute deficiencies... my fault... my fault...

As I said, I NEED MORE LIGHT! I've been looking at HTG for 1000w light packages... prices seem fair, and since I'm worried about a digital ballast messing with my neighbors electrical pulses, cable, etc. I decided to go with a magnetic ballast.

    Now for my questions.....

I need to be quiet, first and foremost!

I've read a lot concerning the efficiency of a 600w compared to a 1000w, and, for a couple reasons, chose the 1000w. I plan on getting the 8" air-cooled hood, but would an 8" inline duct fan be enough to cool my bulb? I would like to get it as close as possible to the plants... about a foot away would be great, maybe 1.5 feet as my plants get taller. I can put another air vent in the flowering room if need be, but I can also bring air in from the attic and exhaust air to the other side of the attic.

This 1000w I'm hoping to get will finish this flowering plant and be used to flower the indicas. It should make my current buds explode with growth and the next set of plants should grow almost optimally (don't have CO2 yet).

I also need to make sure I'm getting fresh air into the room, which is why I thought of installing a new duct in the room by splitting the duct in the attic (right side of the partition, by the picture). I'm pretty open to suggestions, but I would like to purchase the setup either today or tomorrow in hopes of installing it Saturday DAY. I may have other questions that I haven't thought of, so if I can help you help me, I'll be checking this thread every 5 or 10 minutes.

Sorry if my thoughts are scattered or not complete. Thank you all for reading/responding to this post!!!!

edit: forgot to add room dimensions

    flowering room is ~ 7' x 8'
    closet is ~ 4.5' x 8'
    work area is ~ 9'x8'

I dont look for max yield i look for best weed! I use 600 digital on 6 plants and it works great.Check posts about attic may have some concerns there. Instead of rushing for Saturday think things thru and you may prevent other headaches or problems in the future. Good luck with what you decide. peace

Let's start at the finish line!

    Thanks for the response.

I've thought about the humidity being blown into the attic being an issue, so I've found a way to graft the exhaust from the fan though existing duct work that leads out of the house... fart fan in the bathroom next to it. All should be fine there.

I was wanting to hook my DIY carbon scrubber to the end of my hood with some slack in the ductwork between the two, and run the ductwork to the fan, then into the attic and routed outside. Considering a rather large squirrel cage fan (~950 cfm) took 30-40 minutes to clean the room previously, would an 8" in-line duct fan (~250 cfm... would it be louder than the same CFM vortex fan or something similar?) running constantly keep the room smelling fresh AND keep the 1000w bulb cool enough to be around a foot from the plants? I really want to stay within two feet from the top colas if I can.

All other issues aside... what's a good price for a 1000w setup.... magnetic ballast, 8" air cooled hood, bulb, and all the necessary cords?

Also... has anybody else noticed extremely high temperatures from 4 foot 4 bulb T5's? I'm planning on adding one more set of them in my veg area so the whole closet can be used efficiently, but heat is a major issue in there and I'm worried that a heavy duty fan coupled with 5 air pumps and their respective stones will be too loud... sound proofing is not an option at the moment.

Thanks to everyone who has read my questions so far! If anyone wants to see how the room is setup and/or what's going on in there I can take some pics this weekend and post. Let me know!

I've got some t12's... but wanted to get more light in the closet... I get around 20k lumens from my 4 bulbs, so it's cool... but hot. Is that an oxymoron?

I've looked around and can't figure out how to change the title... any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for stickin around axxxxe!

Let's start at the finish line!

I've decided to go with a locally purchased 1000w magnetic ballast, 6 " air cooled hood, GE bulb, and a 4" vortex fan. It's gonna run me abou5 575 on the dot. Guess I can't complain... I'll be runnin 1000w...

Had I spend much more time looking online and been more comfortable with online purchases, I could have probably saved 100 bucks. No big deal. I'll post some pics of what's going on... before and after the new light is installed on Monday and I'll kill the thread.

Have a great weekend you guys!

    So here goes!

Got the 1000w setup this weekend and things went rather well!

You can see what all's going on in the pics. ANY comments are greatly appreciated!

Home built carbon scrubber attached to the reflector with 4" ducting. 1000w bulb is then exhausted with a 4" vortex fan into the attic. It's then connected to the ducting that exits the house.

The windows is blacked out with ~10mm of black plastic now, so no light should escape at all. Next post will show the babies... they've just been transplanted and are feelin pretty rough.

Let's start at the finish line!

These are my indicas. 5 in all. 2 are really looking good with fan leaves that are larger than my hand! It's a 5 gallon roughneck with a 5 watt air pump on two ceramic stones.

    Lighting is a 6 tube - 4 ft T5@6400k

It gets rather warm in there, but that will be solved today.

    Any thoughts?
