As it turned out, it's just not that simple.
The theory is sound.
The phytochrome conversion is fact.

Alas, it is but one of several triggers, so, in practice, this did not fly. It barely limped.
There's also a bio-clock involved, so gains from Far red are not as impressive as we hoped.
Some othe processes are involved that still take about 12 hours of darkness to complete.
Got a paper on it somewhere.

I suspect that L.E. is just responding to demand.

The hucksters, are slapping 735s, n skyfire orange, n umpty shades of white on their lights and they are all hardwired together. :wtf:
Almost useless, from my experiments.

The Far-reds need to be started just before lights out, and only need to run for 45 minutes or so to do a full conversion.

Still no gotta be useful to be marketable, yah.
