Calling out to DreadedHermie for a game of "stoner chess"
Run the game backwards and forwards until the concepts just jump out at ya.
(I usually take a snapshot of the board and then play both sides a few moves into the future to form a strategy and get a "feel" for the balance of forces.)
Sorry to be AWOL, been outta town on another big "emergency" project. Be done after the 4th if I'm not blown up in a fireworks-related mishap.Need advice wth plant problems?

Okay, I'm back. What an ordeal. Feel like a truck hit me.
Whatever devious attack I was planning is long forgotten. So, QKn -QB3.
I moved the board back to the coffee table so a dog might start assisting again. Please let me know if pieces migrate illegally. Damn illegal migrants!Need advice wth plant problems?

Not the best place for her but at least she's off the back rank.
You forgot da plan?
Do what I do when I run off to another room and forget why before I get dere.
I backtrack looking for ragged edges of my derailed train of thought.
Works, sometimes.
This is an opportunity point.
Your next move is cricket-el.
Think it through, plan it well.

Unfortunately for me, you already had that piece there.
(Last move you made.)
I'd post a pic of the board but mine has been upset by migratory waterfowl. And to think, last time I blamed my poor doggie.

This poor creature apparently crash-landed onto the chessboard. :sadcrying To the serfs in Weezard's kingdom, it probably looked like a portly dragon crushing the castle.

Thanks for explaining your thinking in the castling scenario. I had just thought of it as a defensive move to hide the king. (duh) I see now that where you put the rook can be more significant, and that castling has excellent offensive potential.Need advice wth plant problems?

Excellent!
That move completes the opening and we enter mid-game.
Now I'll cash in a little time advantage and annoy your knight.
B - Qkn5
On the surface, that is.
But, what is black really up to here?
Moved his bishop into enemy territory, for what?
To pin a knight?
So it seems.
But, some times a move is more about where a piece was.
(This music is not just notes, it's as much the spaces between the notes as it is their juxtaposition, yah?)
Study this position for a while and it will become obvious.
If not,:stoned: feel free to ask, before you move.
Good to have ya back.
Weeze.
