'strue White is about to get skunked by a pawn.
Meanwhile. I'll jus' keep my knight's pawn safe by moving him to KKn3.

And I'm thinking of promoting to a rook, or bishop instead of a queen.
Anybody can mate with a queen and a bishop.
To mate with 2 bishops and a king, takes skill.
(Oops, no can! no want 2 white bishops.
    It'll be a rook den.)

I do enjoy the endgame more when it's balanced.
Queen slaughter is just too easy at this point.

The openings are a lot harder.
There are 169,518,829,100,544,000,000,000,000,000 ways to play the first 10 moves.
Machines are better at it than people.
But, pare it down to a few pieces and the pooter's advantage is gone.
Merehumans can kick ass in the endgame.:rastasmoke:

Well, if this is the part of the game you're interested in, we'll continue. I think normally white wouyld retire here, as my pawns are trapped, you're on red squares my bishop can't touch, and apparently my king can't put another king in check.

So, white must promote, too. Only one way to try dat.

Pawn chain, eh? Looks like another daylight-burning exercise to me.

White had problems before the rook exchange. I think my main problem came from incomplete evaluation of where the previous exchanges would leave me position-wise. I played it sorta hypermodern/Indian "inspired" if I'm correctly understanding wikipedia's breakdown of the schools of thought. Interesting how close the infighting was, once the balances and mutual deterrences were set up, compared to the initial long-reaching fianchettos and all.

Gotta put some back-spin on da cue ball to avoid a scratch, yah?

    Aaron Nimsovitch.
The "Stormy Petrel" of the game. came up with the Nimsovitch/Indian defense
which makes for an interesting game.
I'll try to coreograph it into our next contest.

The wikis are ok, but for a clear understanding of why a good opening succeeds, I recommend a book.

I think it was called logical steps to chess.
I'll see if I can find my copy and send it with the plumeria starts.

Once read, or tried to read, a Bobby Fischer book.
Could not follow it, the man is quite insane.

    Anyway.
    P - KR4 should seal the deal.
Your king is now rendered harmless and if I promote to a rook, leave it on a red square, and protect it with the bishop, it's curtains.
    Roll credits.

    Got bad news brah!
King no can move into check no time, nohow.

Da knight's pawn is protected by black's bishop.
An da odder pawn is at KR4, out of reach and protected by the safe pawn at KN3.

    So,
    How now?

    Oh, yes. The Bishop...

Didn't see him. "Your king is now rendered harmless" now makes sense.

Gotta resign then. You got the drop on me, Marshall.
