Base Nutrient for Veg?

Im wondering what kinds of success you have had with different brands of nutrients. Last season i used GH BB bio bloom and Green Fuse bloom stimulator during the bloom. Both being organic i had rather good results :stoned:, but now im stuck with a decition on nutrient for veg. I dont know if i should go with the GH BB bio veg or if anyone has something els on thier mind. I would like to stick to organic, and my soil is about 30%perlite 20% peat and 50% organic soil with guano worm castings and dolmite lime. I read about advanced nutrients Iguana Juice and it has many things i was looking for including bat and seabird guano, worm castings, and a load of micro nutriets.

I plan on using mycorrhizal from plant success when they are done sprouting and i think this will make a good combo with feeding organic nutes and soil. Any opinions?

The three-part Fox Farm line works great. I use an organic soil, but have best results with the FF line.

How come? Just curious. I've found that indoors, in pots, organics can be a bitch to dial-in. The nutrients break-down slower than with chemical nutes, which are available immediatelly. (easier to diagnose and treat deficiencies)

I read about advanced nutrients Iguana Juice and it has many things i was looking for including bat and seabird guano, worm castings, and a load of micro nutriets.

IMHO, all of the AN products are way overpriced, with spotty results. Not a mistake I'll make with them again.
Fox Farms Big Bloom has guano, castings...and the other two in the 3-part series have the micronutes. They also have a handy feeding chart for newbies. (newbies to their nutes, that is) And no...I don't have any type of affiliation to FF or anybody that sells it, other than being a satisfied customer.

Beneficials are...beneficial, whether organic nutes are used or not. :jointsmile: If using michorrizae, careful with additives that will kill beneficials. (hydrogen peroxide, for instance)

Im not dead set on them, I just prefer them for bloom, I think they add the right taste and make the smoke perfect. For veg its really up in the air, maybe a mix? I know FF line is both chem with organics, best of both worlds. :thumbsup:

I agree, Advanced nutes are a pretty penny but ive heard about the results. What i like to do is find out what they use in some of their products and find substitutes. Like AN Piranha is microorganisms and mostly root fungi, so im going with a $10 Mycorrhizea from plant success.

Thats a good point you bring up, i know the chlorine in tap water also kills them so what I like to do is fill up a Gal of water or however much I will need and I pump air via a small fish pump through the water overnights. Helps aeration and evaporates the chlorine.

Best to use nutes from the same brand for both veg and flower. Some of the brands are not compatible, and overdosing of heavy metals, hormones, salts is quite possible, if not likely. :jointsmile:

I'll likely never go all organic. The organics take too long to break-down and become usable to the plant, (makes correcting defeciencies a big pain) but FF is a nice balance of both. And with their handy schedule as a guide, even a newbie like me can have success. :jointsmile:

Using those AN products is like wearing a pair of gloves to light a match. Sure...they may work to prevent burns for some people, in some instances...but are incredibly unnecessary for most folks. Keep it simple...it's cheaper in the long run and remember: you can't buy a great garden from any nutrient company...but you can overspend on expertly marketed products, and still have a crappy result.

Water aeration is unnecessary in soil. The suction created from watering the soil does just fine to bring air down to the root zones.

I used ff peace of mind fruit and flower along with bigbloom 1/2 strength as recommended I broke up the bb to 1/2 strength 2 times in a week as suggested; I had a cal/mag deff. issue used molasses to correct but calmag makes leaves look real bad till corrected any suggestions on future projects? Peace of Mind isn't the first choice I'd make, as there's a tad too much nitrogen in there, and possibly too many micro's, but the kicker is...it's time release. Impossible to control once in the pot, and impossible to remove.

For time release products, you need to determine how much to use prior to adding to the pot, and from there, you'll likely need to start treating any defeciencies that come along. As cannabis is a two month or so bloomer...likely won't want to add more time-release nutes for at least a month into 12/12. Possibly more, as the Fox Farms Piece Of Mind webpage doesn't mention how long the product lasts. I know it's temperature and moisture that determines this, but you can contact the FF folks, and they can let you know.

Next time, you may want to just go with the liquid nutes.

Would use care with the molasses...can create a ph lockout condition. Do you know your runoff ph?

Thanks Rusty, I am going to change from peace of mind to a liquid as suggested. I tried very little molasses as the problem showed up 5 weeks into flower, used enough to just clear it up as I was worried about the other issues i have seen posted about using it. My run off ph is at 6.6 to 6.8 so I think I am ok there.Not one to kiss ass but hey thank you, you have alot of good info posted and its made this old hippie a little wiser.peace

All nutrient companies claim to be the best but in truth I believe their all good, here and there I hear certain one suck and some are superior but I believe that to be marketing and advertising. I've used Iguana Juice twice before, but after paying the hydro stores a visit I realized they dont stock this stuff no more because of pricing and inconsistencies of nutrition... got some mad nuggets once before with IJ BLOOM... now I use PuraVidaOrganics: GROW its a vegan organic using no animal bi-product but provides good NPK; 6-4-3 and AdvancedNutrients MotherEarthTea GROW as my 2nd veg nute providing me with 4-1-4 for some super veg. Also throw in Compost Tea and Voodoo Juice and it all looks good. IDK about everybodies area but on the back pages of the phonebook in my area theres 15-20% off fertilizers at the hydrostores check your phonebook to save an extra buck.

I second what DrMota said about the Mother Earth Super Tea that Advanced Nutrients makes. That's some great stuff. Their Iguana Juice is just as good, maybe better. Those are both premium options if you want to go organic.

I've seen quicker, lusher growth with their regular nutrients (GMB, Sensi, etc) but I know some people really prefer organics so those two are probably the best way to go if that's what you like.

If you're not trying to push the limits of what you and your plants can do AN might not be the best brand for you. For me it is because I'm always trying to best my prior achievements. I figure the day I stop trying to improve myself I might as well just dig a 6x6x2 ditch and plant myself.
