What is going to happen to Marc Emery?!?
I just dont think that the US government should be able to push their ideologies on other countries. I dont see how they can even call that man a drug trafficker.. what the growers of the seeds do with the seeds is on them.

What is going to happen to Marc Emery?!?
i dont think the US really wants him anymore for selling seeds but the whole thing has turned into some kind of political power struggle.
last i heard the political climate of canada was turning against the pot heads but even if they did re-criminalize what he did was legal at the time so hopefuly our northern brethern have enough brains to tell the dea to get fucked.
i also dont know the law in canada wich may state that selling seeds outside canada to a country thats laws pprohibit the selling of seeds is illegal so he would be guilty of that if he knowingly did such a thing.
so its up in the air i think.

Rule 1: Leave Your Weed At Home
Sunday, May 24, 2009, 9:48
MARC EMERY??S date at city hall turned into a standoff when police discovered a bag of bud in the unattended backpack of a documentary filmmaker.
Fireworks were expected at Vancouver city hall yesterday as ??Prince of Pot? Marc Emery was forced to defend himself at a business licence panel.
But the real drama went down outside council chambers.
A tense standoff developed between a dozen Emery supporters and police scheduled to testify at the hearing after a big bag of weed was discovered in an unattended backpack.
A documentary filmmaker was identified as the bag??s owner and he was grabbed by police and taken to a secluded area of city hall.
Meanwhile, the remaining officers held many of Emery??s supporters - all proponents for legalized marijuana - at bay metres from the council chamber.
Terse words were exchanged as the activists lobbied for the man??s release and as police tried to protect the identity of undercover officers from the documentary crew.
The affair was finally defused when officers let the filmmaker go, although without his bag of bud.
The incident capped an otherwise uneventful day, as the business licence panel heard from only one of nine scheduled witnesses.
The city??s chief license inspector, Barbara Windsor, testified Emery??s Avalon Sunsplash Ltd. company was denied business licences for the 420 Convenience Store, Cannabis Culture magazine and Marc Emery??s Cannabis Culture Headquarters - all in the 300-block of West Hastings Street - because of a 2004 trafficking conviction in Saskatchewan and police allegations of drug use in the building.
Outside city hall, Emery told reporters the businesses are legitimate.
??We??re talking about a convenience store here, a retail store, our offices: None of which sell marijuana or do anything illegal,? Emery said. ??They won??t give us a licence because it??s my name. It??s Marc Emery and they don??t want me downtown.?
The hearing has been put over until July 21 due to scheduling conflicts.

Marc Emery??s Lawyer Cites Possible U.S. Deal
The extradition hearing for marijuana activist Marc Emery, which was scheduled to begin next week, has been adjourned.
Emery??s lawyer, Ian Donaldson, told B.C. Supreme Court Justice Anne Mackenzie that he needed more time to finalize an agreement with U.S. prosecutors that would end the need for the hearing.
Donaldson noted that two of Emery??s co-accused have pleaded guilty to their part in a scheme in which marijuana seeds were sold for use in grow-ops south of the border.
He said that since the pleas by Michelle Rainey and Gregory Williams were entered in
Seattle last month, he has been in discussions with the U.S. prosecuting counsel.
??He and I have a general framework capable of resolving the case for Mr. Emery,? said Donaldson.
He said that, under the agreement, Emery would consent to be committed for extradition on one of the three criminal counts he faces. He noted that the Canadian authorities are opposed to such a move.
He asked for an adjournment of two to three weeks so he could further discuss the matter with a U.S. defence lawyer who would handle the case in Seattle.
Kerry Swift, a lawyer for the federal justice department, told the judge that her superiors in Ottawa were opposed to the adjournment.
She noted that the case had already been delayed a number of times and previous negotiations to resolve the matter had gone off the rails.
But the judge said she accepted that Donaldson had made efforts to resolve the case and agreed to put off the matter for several weeks. The next court appearance is June 3 to address the availability of a Crown witness, an undercover officer, who is to testify if the hearing goes ahead. Emery was arrested on the drug charges in 2005.

What is going to happen to Marc Emery?!?
this is bullshit. i havent heard anything on the news about this at all and i have a feeling the US really doesnt want to do anything about this. they treat marc emery like the SOLE PERSON responsible for people wanting marijuana legal, 80% of kids today dont even know who this guy is. ya he sold a TON of seeds but who cares, they are SEEDS. the criminals in this situation are those who took the seeds and with their own knowledge and doing grew the illegal plants.
if he is busted it wont be for some T.I. sentence either he will go for a long time, never hurt anyone, never threatened anyone, not even an american

Canadian so-called Prince of Pot to plead guilty this summer
By JEREMY HAINSWORTH; Associated Press Writer

VANCOUVER, British Columbia
The lawyer for Canada's so-called Prince of Pot says he'll appear in a Seattle court this summer to plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has steadfastly maintained Marc Emery is among the world's top 50 drug traffickers for selling millions of marijuana seeds to U.S. residents in the past decade.
Emery admits making millions selling the seeds through his Vancouver-based mail-order business. He says he used the money to finance his battle against the U.S. drug war.
Lawyer Ian Donaldson said Wednesday exact dates and details are not yet available as negotiations with the U.S District Attorney are continuing. He says charges of distributing seeds and money laundering would be dropped in exchange for the guilty plea.
