NORML is asking for your support of Assembly Bill 390, the Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act -- the first bill ever introduced to legalize the sale and use of marijuana in California. The bill has been referred to the Assembly Committees on Public Safety and Health.

As introduced, this groundbreaking proposal would raise over $1 billion in annual revenue by taxing the retail production and sale of marijuana for adults over 21 years of age.

The bill would not alter existing legislation on the use of medicinal cannabis, nor would it impose new taxes or sanctions on the medical cultivation of cannabis.

Assembly Bill 390 proposes to make California the first state in the nation to enact a rational public policy for the control and regulation of marijuana. Please show your support for this measure by contacting your California Assembly members and urging them to support the Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act. No, by the author, typical, at least he got his 15 minutes of name recognition, and gave it some lip service while obviously having no real intent to back it. that figures. how about the '10 inititive? think it has a chance? i liked it better anyway. $10/oz excise tax for non-medical only sounds a lot more reasonable. :greenthumb: :hippy:

No problem, I really wasn't clear at all, I was refering to the California Hemp and Health Inititative that was authored by Jack Herrer. I'm don't know anything about it except that it fell short in '08 and last I heard they were going to try to run it again in '10. I'm not sure if calhemp.org is their new web page or not. I think I have the text pasted on here somewhere... oh here it is. Don't use their link at the bottom its been redirected.
