You are old enough your mom should not be in the exam room with you when you go see the Dr. You may want to express that at the Dr. office when she is not present and ask them to politely excort her to the waiting room and tell her it is the policy.--they come up with all kinds of reason to protect your Hippa rights! Get that prescription and it will show you are definitely in pain, have your records transferred to a Dr. listed on Norml or MAPP for more info.

Usually, not everything shows on an X-ray. You may need an MRI to really find out what is going on with your knee. On that note. If you do go back to the doc, tell her you intend to push your Dr. for more tests, even if you have to get a little pushy and you'd prefer your mom not be present in the exam room.
