    Aptitude Test For Politicians

Why aren't our politicians required to take an aptitude test before running for a government position? I had to take a fucking test to be a cashier at Walgreens, work at wal-mart, or get out of highschool, but these people don't need to take a test to qualify to be Commander in Chief of the U.S.

    Something isn't right here...

It is impossible for us to make informed decisions when we don't even know how intelligent someone is or what their strengths and weaknesses actually are. All we have to go by is the rhetoric that spews from their mouth and their voting records.

I am willing to bet that had Bush 1, Clinton, Bush2, and Obama taken a test none of them would have ever become supreme leader.

In my opinion the test should be a mix of ACT and SAT style questions along with LSAT style questions, as well as some specific questions regarding economic knowledge, world knowledge, history, etc.

If I'm required to prove to my employer I'm intelligent enough to operate a cash register why the hell are they not obligated to prove to us they are intelligent enough to run a country prior to being elected?

I think its because they arent the ones who actually runs the country... i would say theyre only puppets of the great ones who actually rule the country... and thus they must NOT be very intelligent, or they would notice that most decisions they are lead to take arent the best for the country or for the people...

So i think it isnt a coincidence that the usa got in this mess it is today when it was being governed by the dumbest of all its presidents...

But who are the puppet masters pulling the strings? Big Corporation, the presidents own elected cabinet, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid?

I agree we have had several puppet presidents, but it doesn't account for all the bad decisions and it simply reinforces the fact we need some sort of test to prove the qualifications of our politicians.

If you are referring to Congress and the Senate, I agree they basically run the country, but I don't believe in most cases they could be considered the puppet master.

Not to mention I'm talking about an aptitude test for everyone from mayor, state legislature, federal congressmen, up to the president. They aren't all puppets, some are simply evil.

Coleho, simply out of curiosity, which do you believe Obama is: a puppet president, an intelligent president, an idiot president who doesn't have a master, or an intelligent and good president?

Sadly, I don't think many since the early 1900's would win...

Well... as we live under the capitalism, the actual rulers of it are the ones who has the capital: the great corporations, for example.

The senators and congressmen frequently vote to favour the lobbysts (sp?), the ones who funded their campaigns and ultimately allowed them to reach a place in the congress/senate... and most lobbysts are also the ones who has the capital, so, again, its the capital who ultimately runs it.

I dont know him enough to have a clear picture about him, anyway, from what ive seen and read, i would say he is a well-meaning puppet. I think he may actually wish to bring changes, but he only will be allowed to make the changes that dont affect the profits of the ones who pull his strings.

I would love to just see a national debate live on TV with all the candidates for the office. No talking head idiot commentator asking questions. A 4 hour event where anyone can ask any question and the candidate has 30 seconds to answer. At 30 seconds the mike gets turned off till its his turn again. Put a score board behind them and score which one actually answered the question and which ones didn't.
I would love to just see your everday Joe ask them any dumb ass question they can. See how smart they are.

almost 100% of Congressmen are lawyers ... all they really need to know is, how to feed their power-trips, how to squeeze thru loopholes, and how to avoid a REAL job, by the re-election process ... :wtf:
