Cooltube or not
I currently run 2 seperate tubes in 2 diff cabinets and am in the process of putting together a 12x7 room in my basement for a 12 pot ebb&grow system. My question is when I get the light for the room I plan on getting a 1000w system but am unsure if I should get another tube or go with a different hood. Can a cooltube cover the same area as another type of hood or? Just looking for some input to rattle around in my head so any thoughts that are thrown in here I'll be glad to get

How about a light mover? I think it would solve a couple issues for you...

I have heard cool tubes don't get the same light coverage as other hoods. Because you have so many cool tubes you should try something different. Get a regular hood, but a sealed one. They are just as cool as a cool tube but might get better light coverage.
I have a cool tube that mounts 2 1000 watters or 2 600 watters. I have one 1000 watt MH and a 1000 watt Super HPS. I don't think it gets much better than that, lots of spectrum, power, and coolness.
Either way, you know you will be fine.

regular squared hoods reflect and distribute light better, But in no way are they better when comes to air flow, just like you said.
So is glass better than, that plastic you have? Is regular glass better that tempered glass? Just a few Q's that are interesting, if ya know tell me.

I use this hood. It is like a cool tube because it has great air flow, but does have a lot of properties of a squared hood. I love the dual bulb part. MH + HPS = bomb
Check it out.

cool tubes are good but yes the reflectors built into the tube are not verry well designed"i have one of the originals though that just has the 4 inch curve to keep the light in some what of a down ward angle. i bought a cheap bat wing reflector and 8 inch hose clamps and strapped it to the outer lense and it worked a lilttle better, but was still not satisfied.if you still want to use the cool tubes in a larger area they make dual cool tubes.a bulb at each end. they come in 400-600-1000 watts.

I guess I should have been more precise about the question. I was concerned with light coverage. I have learned that when it comes to getting rid of heat the cooltube is the way to go since 2 are in like 3x3 cabinets. The room I am building will be 12x7x7 and at the start will only have 12 pots inside. when complete and running at 100% it will have 30 pots (give or take) and will be running 2 1000w lights just didnt know if I would be better with a diff hood for the coverage. Room will be in the basement where temps pretty much dont go above 65f year round so high temps I hope will not be a problem, was mainly coverage I was concerned with.
Thank you all for the responses and may we all have dark green thumbs in the future!! :jointsmile:If you have something productive to say by all means speak up, if not then please close the hole under your nose.
