Hello everyone,

Never written a grow log before, but here goes.

Growing legally in Oregon - started around 12/1. Experienced gardeners with 16 flowering and 32 in veg. Jack Herer, blueberry, purple kush, diesel, and white rhino in bloom. BC elephant, jack herer, blueberry, purple kush, and white rhino in veg

Problem is affecting the middle leaves of some strains in veg, and is limited, but spreading slowly.

We're thinking maybe overwatering or possibly fungal problems, but are looking for some help. Try and get some pix up soon.

We've had a new problem (to us). Reddish-brown spots are appearing in the center area of the middle leaves in our veg room. These are dead tissue, and the affected leaves show curling. Doesn't seem to me to be an insect or nutrient problem, but I don't know how to diagnose or treat this slowly spreading.....

Worm castings make a crappy medium. It makes a muddy mess that suffocates the roots.
If you can...transplant immediatelly into a commercial potting mix, and add perhaps a tablespoon of the castings per gallon of pot size.

Knowing your ph is important, so you'll either need a ph pen, or a cheap freshwater aquarium ph test kit.

No nutes...? How old are they?

Read as much as you can, as often as you can. Try reading some of the other grow logs. It can help you understand the what's and why's of cannabis gardening.

Id also call too high ph.....but Rusty knows MUCH more about soil than I do so I'd take his advice over mine here. But I would try to lower your ph (to around 6.5) as well.

what weedhound said, are you in a hard water area? I'd say its PH and I'm getting the same problem, see my log I posted what i used as a solution, for my PH down phosphoric acid.. but if you are veging make sure you use nitric acid.. then your plants get nitrogen..

Thanks for the quick responses. We bought a moisture meter that shows we've been badly overwatering some of the girls. Now keeping a close eye, and probably won't water several for weeks.

Think you're on to something viz the worm castings - planning some repotting back into MJR planting mix.

We both are experienced - just been 20+ years since our last grows. Seems that more recent ideas may be better ;-0. Past soil grows were to 10'-12' high at harvest - grown under lights.

Oregon legislation favors medium+ height by limiting numbers of plants in bloom. Another info source is upset over not adding nutrients - so, we'll have to explore that further.

The worm castings themselves seemed to be the reason for ph levels over 7.0 - the MJR mix runs 6.0-6.5. Obtained cheap ph meter to arrive at those values, and check our growing plants that average 7.1 in their current soil.

Quite frankly I don't trust those moisture meters for soil. I think they suck. In fact I got so sick of mine I placed it very carefully in front of one of my front tires and voila......the problems stopped the moment I drove somewhere.

Forgot the rest of the post. Cannabis definitely prefers light and airy soils. I wouldn't know a worm casing from a lima bean but I do know that much. If you've been growing ANY plants (which you said you had) I've got to bet you've got the watering thing down so.......happy driving.....

I think it is the 80% composted worm casting. That is not supposed to be used like that for MJ. They are probably giving your plant some type of nutrient burn, which causes other nutrients to have deficiency's.
