    Extreme vs. Volcano?

If anything, it's lack of a variable fan speed makes it worse at this task. Every time I see a Volcano on video, the vapors are not as dense as with the Extreme. A slow fan will create thicker vapors. Looking at how fast the bag blows up on a Volcano, it seems like it just can't create thick vapors.

I also think the Extreme was better engineered. Whoever designed it is pretty smart and knows electronics and the market of stock electronic parts. The genius of the extreme (probably why it is less expensive) is that it uses stock (yet manufacturer configurable) parts. They're quality parts and put together well. It's also made of stainless steel, and is cool to the touch.

The Extreme is all glass for 5" before it goes into food grade tubing, whereas the Volcano is plastic. I'm sure it is a high grade plastic that can handle the temp, but with glass you know it is untainted. This is why I only use my iolite when I am out and about, and always use the Extreme at home.

The Extreme has an on board computer that controls the temperature, timer and various other features (audio, lights, etc).

To me, it's like if Macs were half the price as PCs. Extreme would be the Mac.

It's well made. It's just that they make better use of "economies of scales" electronic parts. The remote is something used by many different products -- they just get the manufacturer to print different controls on the button. The heater is probably something used in other industries. Their parts are less expensive because they buy parts that are commonly used across many industries. My iPod alarm clock has that same remote. I'm sure the computer with LED display is something used in other appliances. That's smart -- the parts are common so they're tested, true, and inexpensive.

It's very clever what they did. These Canadians out-engineered the Germans and built a better product for less. They're better at engineering and business.

I wouldn't assume German engineering and manufacturing to be superior. Look at the reliability of Audis -- awful. I've used German recording software that is just plain crap. The interface on the Volcano has an obvious flaw -- the increase and decrease buttons for temp are the same color and the arrows are both pointing up. Red = warmer, blue = colder, one should point up and one should point down.

You're paying for expensive German labor, taxes, and tariffs. As much as I'd like to subsidize their socialist lifestyles, I live in a dog eat dog world, so saving $300 works for me.
Well I personally have used all of the above vaporizers with a "critical" outlook. When i first tried the Extreme the heat sensor seemed to be considerably inaccurate, the unit (the promo unit) had to be set at a crazy temp just to get a proper vapor , I think the temp was considerably higher than ANYTHING I've ever seen on a Volcano. On a volcano recommended temp is something like 340 - 360, though i know many people to use 380-400.
I've attempted the volcano at a considerably higher temp (approx. 450 f.) and the vapor was so thick it was heavier than smoke. It was to much and yes it had a bit of a popcorn smell to it so obviously, it's not recommended to run that temp for this particular herb.

    extreme?
So it has a remote, just another way to fill our landfill's with lithium. :wtf:

    volcano?
The buttons on the volcano have a + and a - hard to miss interpret that isn't it?

    german?
if you want to compare these things to car's, Germany is the fine founder of the Mercedes-Benz.

So you pay a bit more initially but to honest the saying "you get what you pay for" applies to many aspects of life.

No offense to my fellow Canadians, I'd take German engineering over Canadian Engineering any day.

to each his own, my Volcano digi is going on 3 years old now without a hiccup. I'm pretty confident in the company to back me up in the event of something going wrong later down the road as well.

    all the best,
    Bob.

Extreme,Herbal aire, vapor daddy, vapor genie.. Volcano trumps them all.
Volcano trumps a VaporGenie? What the hell? While I agree that the 'Cano is the best bag vape out there, to throw in the VG into a comparison mix is just nuts.

Personally, I don't like sucking on bags. They all have, including the 'Cano, a very high air to vapor ratio, that is, unless you turn up the 'Cano to a more than desirable temp setting. They make a great party vape, but other than that, there are other vapes that I prefer better for when I either want efficiency, or want great tasting, super rich and thick vapor.

True, the Vapor genie is totally different style all together, the VG is going to be my portable vaporizer when i decide to get one.
bought one for my buddy for christmas and he loves it.

The glass one is pretty nice.

Before purchasing that, check out the LaunchBox. The VG was my very first vape. I still have it. But since then, the LaunchBox came out, and in my opinion, for portability, there is nothing that can touch it. I also have the Iolite, but I really don't like it at all.

WOW that thing is very small, thanks for the info!

I've heard various things about the Iolite aka the I-inhale. Seems that sometimes they don't shut off, I've even seen one shoot butane out the filling receptacle. Scary stuff, you'd start to fill the thing and it'd just spray all the butane out like Old Faithful, if you weren't careful you'd get it in the eye.

I've never heard any 'true' reports of an iolite not shutting off. That's just ignorance about the way they operate. When you switch it off, you'll still hear some hissing briefly. That's just the way it's designed. Doesn't mean it's still on. As for expelling butane, never heard that one either, at least not after the butane can was removed from the filling nozzle. I've used one since they shipped the first units out-never had a problem.

Yea the butane expelling was very surprising, the thing is it'd be fine for a few seconds then come spraying out the top. Didn't believe it myself until i tried it and when i did i practically got a face full of butane. :wtf:

I guess if it just happens once in a blue moon it's OK. If it's a chronic happening, I'd be inclined to seek warranty service.
