very nervous for results. advice/support? ha

ok so i stopped smoking for exactly 30 days. it was rough. but i did it! haha.

anyways, i took a home test. and the result came up negative. (very happy) but the line came up pretty faint. almost like "i barely passed" ive read before the intensity of the line does not matter. as long as something appears YOU PASSED!.. just for certainty.. i bought another home test. and took it today, before my actual lab screening for the coast guard.

it came up negative again. but the line was even FAINTER then the previous test. i took my actual lab screening today. and i get the results monday. if i passed 2 at home tests. is it pretty much guaranteed I am going to pass the lab screening?

does the intensity of the line REALLY matter??? what causes it to be faint and what causes it to be solid red. which I was hoping for..

A faint line does not matter. Even synthetic urine samples can produce a faint line.

are they as accurate as a lab screening. ive been reading mixed reviews that if its a faint line... you may not pass a lab screening

Home THC tests are essentially the same as the ones used by the lab for the initial screen.

Even if an untrained tech would misinterpret a faint line and subsequently had a confirmation GC/MS done, the sample would still come back negative.

I have mixed feelings about the faint line and whether it means anything.

I bought over 10 home thc devices (online, for cheap!) when I was spazzin over my upcoming pre-employment drug test. At 14 days (abstinence), I tried first morning urine and NO LINE. Ok... this is a fail. I followed the dilution sticky and took another test. NO LINE. Still, ok, no question about the intensity of the line because it wasn't there. At around 21 days, I took another first morning urine test and still no line. Then I diluted and took another test. I got a ghost line, meaning, dang this is the faintest line I've ever seen, but it wasn't there in the previous tests! I was stoked! Some sort of line was appearing! Not one that I could photocopy, but there was something different there than the other tests. For the next week of tests, I saw a lot of difference in the lines. Like, after a couple of cups of coffee, I was getting a line, but it wasn't even going all the way across. Still faint as ever.

By 30 days clean, I still wasn't able to pass my first morning void's test (I never was able to pass that one), but the 2nd test of the day - the one with a little dilution - the one that gave me a ghost line a week earlier - was a good solid line. Not as dark as the control line, but a good line anyway. Trying full dilution also gave me a good solid line, which I swear was a little bit darker than the test before. I tested the QF (which I eventually used) and it gave me the darkest line of all the tests.

I've been at this forum for 10 months. I've read a lot about "a line is a line" and if you can photocopy it, its a line, etc etc... but I just had to share my story about my many thc tests and my many different lines. It makes me wonder about it.

Yeah, I chickened out and used QuickFix. Only because the morning of my test, I failed the first morning test miserably. I was kinda hoping for even a ghost line. I had loaded up on creatine days before, and did full dilution before I headed to LabCorp, but ended up using the QF (with success!). I think I would have passed with my own urine, but I wasn't taken any chances.

As for you, you have your size and age in your favor. You should be able to clean up much faster than me. I'm a chronic (daily) smoker and have been since 1975.

I don't think you have anything to worry about! Good luck with the Coast Guard!

Try not to get bogged down with overanalysis when using THC test kits and interpreting their result.
To conclude that the intensity of the line dictates THCA concentration would be speculating, because assays lack the ability to quantify THCA concentration. Assays are a pass/fail endeavor.
Reactionary process from the regents vary from one test kit to another. Thats why a clean sample/synthetic can produce a bold line on one kit, and a faint line an another kit at a given time. The fact that a bold line was produced after fluid consumption is coincidental.

With all that being said, a faint line in the 'Test' region is still a negative. Dont sweat the small stuff.

Yeah, I know Burnt. I get the whole thing. It was just interesting to see the varying types of lines as I was cleaning up. I know those test devices aren't smart enough to do what I imagined it was doin....

The ghost line is interesting tho... I'm still not convinced it doesn't mean "you're almost there!!"

    And smart they are not.

For peace of mind, and if you have the capital, you could always pay to have a quantitative analysis done using the GC/MS, but be sure you use the same void that gave you the faint/ghost line. For the experiment, void enough sample so you can split into two - Sample A for your home assay, sample B to get sent off for Q/A.

But I'll make you a book that the samples that produced faint/ghost lines on the assay, will come back as a negative after the Q/A.
