i have just bought myself a new clarinet, i used to play when i was younger and to a pretty good standard, i mean it was never going to be a career option but i enjoyed it, it gave me an escape and a way of being creative and artistic. i havent played since having children and i never really had an incentive to pick it up again until recently. i am surrounded by music all day every day my boyfriend plays bass guitar and alot of my friends play various instruments but none of which i saw as compatible with the clarinet or the music styles i used to play which were pretty classical, until one of my friends introduced me to a viola player who like me hadnt played much in years he never had a reason to so we made a deal that if he picks up the viola again i would pick up the clarinet again only this time i dont want to play classical music so we decided to go for folk music instead. i'm all ready enjoying the new challenge and i'm looking forward to having a jam with a few friend who between them can play drums, guitar, penny whistle and of course viola and clarinet. it should be fun, i'm all ready getting back into the flow again.

i strongly urge anyone who has given up playing an instrument and has thought about starting again to do it.
