Website for the losses
I was just wondering if there is any website with all the names of people who have been killed by cops or something like that because of the drug war.
I think it would be a good idea, easy for media to point out if you tipped them off about it.
Maybe NORML could do it if there isn't already a site like that?luciddreamer Reviewed by luciddreamer on . Don't know about the smugglers and dealers, but there's shitloads of links available that link to the officers killed in the drug war. Frankly, it concerns me much more that officers lose their lives upholding the laws, than it ever could regarding felons killed. Likley some links available, to stories about those innocent bystanders killed by cartel crossfire, turf wars, burglaries and drive-by's, too. But I'm pretty sure it isn't the cops doing that.
Blaming cops for doing their jobs is folly. Perhaps you're looking for links to innocent felons being killed in rogue drug raids?
Why not require firemen to only save houses with a pot leaf in the window, too? Or have doctors treat only patients with a NORML hat on?
The cop's job is to do what he swore to do, including busting the bad guys. (you know...the ones that break the law?) But bad guys don't always go without a fight, and you seem to be implying it's generally the cop's fault for in the process of having to defend himself, the suspect is killed?
If you are saying the system, (as in the Judicial, Legislative and Executive branches of the US government) holds the loins share of responsibility, then as far as cannabis is concerned...I'm in total agreement.

The Marijuana Policy Project tells the story of several of the victims of the drug war. Students for Sensible Drug Policy is another resource I'd look into.

There was a murder along a remote logging road this past summer.
I did not know the people involved. I was headed to my property in the back country and came across a sign babbling on about it. I asked a neighbor what the deal was and confirmed there was indeed a homicide. Money, Marijuana, alcohol, greed and guns are just a few instruments of the drug war.
Very sad nobody should be incarsarated or killed over a damn plant. Stop the war on drugs. Sorry just a little rant I guess.
