sub or dilute?

So i just landed a dream job totally out of the blue, and now I'm in a bit of a bind. I'll try to be as concise as possible:

-I'm 5'2, 120lb, so I've got some meat on my bones. I usually work out about 3x a week on top of walking anywhere from 2-6mi per day getting to classes and such, so my metabolism is probably about moderate to a bit above average.

-I smoked probably about 2 grams of decent weed (nothing to write home about though) over the course of 3 days from friday evening (mostly friday night) to maybe sunday morning. Before that, I took one hit at the end of Feb, and before that it must have been November or something. Not sure, it was a LONG time ago.

-I got the job offer on monday, started today, and will be going to HR to fill in all my forms and everything, including consent to drug/alcohol screening, tomorrow. I'm not sure if/when they would actually do the screen, if they'll give me any sort of advanced notice, or if they'll send me to another site to do the test.

-I did an at-home test on tuesday and failed miserably. I practiced diluting this morning and tested again; I passed with a very faint line.

-Last night I got some pee from a friend as a backup. It's chilling in the fridge right now. Unfortunately the only guy I knew who could give me clean piss is a bit of an alcoholic, and had a few beers before he peed for me.

So as I see it, I have two options: I can either dilute in the morning before I go to work, or I can bring some of the backup pee (I have a lot) with me. While I tested negative this morning after diluting, that's hardly a guarantee that i'll test negative for the UA that counts. I know this guy's pee is THC free; the last time he smoked was probably 4-6 months ago. My main hangup about subbing is the fact that this guys pee will definitely test positive for alcohol if they screen for that in the UA. I'm also not exactly sure when the UA would be (they might make me go into the bathroom and pee right after I hand in my forms for all I know), so I could be carrying around pee for a while, only to not have needed it after all. So my question is this; which way should I go? Should I try diluting, and risk failing the THC test, or should I try subbing and possibly get bagged for alcohol? How likely is it that they would test for alcohol in the UA, as opposed to a breathalyzer or something like that?

First off, most pre-employment tests dont test for alcohol..........and secondly, if you are going to substitute.........can't you least be dilligent enough to find someone who isn't drunk at the time he is providing you with the specimen???? It sounds like you may not be "comfortable" subbing.......which some people aren't, I wasn't. Obviously, substitution is not completely without risk.........but hardly anything is, and you'd pass for sure if you used clean urine. Either rush-order synthetic, and follow the stickys and the packages advice...........or find someone to pee "clean" for you. Like I said, though, a typical 5 panel test does not test for alcohol.........it COULD possibly throw some other numbers off....not sure about that so dont quote me.

It sounds like you didnt smoke a TON of weed...........so I would dilute. A faint line is a pass.........no matter how faint the line is. I took tons of these tests, and sometimes, they will illicit a faint line when you are completely clean too. A faint line vs a strong line is not an indication of any type of "levels" of THC metabolites in your body. A line is a pass............period. I would follow the dilution sticky............if you dont follow it to a T, or cant for some reason.............err on the side of caution and drink a sports drink until you feel like you are going to throw up (be careful to not TOTALLY overdo it...............you can get water poisoned). Void a bunch of times, and give the test...............Good luck! I passed mine with dilution!

Its possible they will check for alcohol. They do for DOT tests.
It sounds like your close on the dillution. If you can't pickup some synthetic urine then I would follow the dillution sticky the morning of the UA.

I would have found someone else, but it's spring break, and everyone I would feel comfortable asking for urine from is either off on some vacation halfway around the world or probably baked right now :stoned:. I only knew that he drank because when he handed me the bottle he said he made sure only to drink a few so that he didn't pee clear :wtf:. And I can't get upset at him having a few beers, since as you said, the standard 5-panel EMIT doesn't test for alcohol, so I'm sure he didn't think that was going to be a problem. The only reason I worry about the alcohol at all is because the employment agreement I signed explicitly said that I "consent to Drug/Alcohol screening".

I think I am just going to go ahead with the dilution. I followed the protocol in the sticky this morning and I was apparently successful, and one more day of abstinence can only improve my chances. I bought another home kit so that I can test again before I go to work tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's insight!

You mentioned in your first post that you took a home test and "failed miserably". You may or may not of failed "miserably" because there is no way for you to accurately know exactly by "how much" you failed. You just failed. My point being that the lab you test at isn't going to be able to find a "level" of THC metabolites in your body............they are just going to see if you are above, or under, the 50ng cutoff point. Your only concern is to make sure your levels are under that point. The more water you pee out, the less concentrated the metabolites will be..........thereby lessening that number to hopefully under 50ng. Dilution works.........so make sure you are very dilligent about following the sticky..........and like I said, if you are worried.........drink more fluid. Worst case scenario is they ask you to retest...........or question you about the diluted specimen.........to which you could say you just got over food poisoning, drink alot of water, just worked out etc. IF they even question it..............I peed almost straight water and passed............no questions.......nothing. The main thing is try to relax...........at least you aren't going to prison or anything IF you fail........worst thing that can happen is you miss out on ONE job. Good luck and I'm sure you will be fine. Most things we worry about never happen anyway!
