fire dept.
Im looking to apply for the los angeles fire department within a couple of years. i just turned 19 and im still going through my degree in fire technology completing all my fire technology classes and whatnot. because of this i figured i have at least a year or 2 before i even apply and then most likely need to apply a few times as rarely anybody gets in the first time. I also have a slipped disk in my 10th thoracic vertebrae and it is a legitimate problem which i can receive medical marijuana for and yes it does actually cause me pain and discomfort as my back will randomly pop when i move and it hurts like a b****. I was wondering if anybody knows if the fire dept. will reject my application because of a previous prescription. im currently seeing a chiropractor for the problem and im not sure if they will write me a prescription or not because i havent asked. reguardless where i get it, i want to know if the fire dept. can reject my application because i had a prescription while i was under the care of a chiropractor for a back condition. as i mentioned earlier i have 1 - 2 or more years before i apply and i should be done with my physical therapy within 6 months to a year. also is there any way i can have a prescription that wont show up on my public medical records so i can avoid this problem all together?

Its unlikely that they will even know you had a prescription for medical MJ, but you will have to pass a drug test and things like that. Plus the fact that your back is messed up might limit you from being a firefighter, considering you may have to carry someone out of a burning house, not to mention the other extremely physical aspects of the job.
