Turning a freezer into a HPS cooling box

    An Inspirational idea.....

How many watts do you think the average residential or commercial freezers are producing? How about an automatic temperature gauge safety cutoff inside one and a 400W-1000W HPS lamp in there.... with some tweaking this might work well... then enclose the radiator at the back of the fridge/freezer..so that you can dispose of the heat created from controlling the enclosure heh... sounds silly but is a neccessity for efficiency of the compressor heh.. and probably allowing the freezer to keep up at its full rate.. maxxed out heh.

Obvious considerations are keeping the temperature delta constant (don't want plants getting frosty or too hot and crispy heh)... With some internal airflow and specification allowances possibility heat mats for plant(s).. put the light and the freezer on the same timer, freezer turns off with the lamp dada!

I need to find a fast switching freezer of some kind to ensure that the 18hr/12 cycles arent devestating the compressor i suppose

I might find time to do this one day!

For now though Id appreciate anyones input/ideas heh... I love mad ideas when high oh my..

So, any ideas? Or peeps who work with compressors often? This makes sense to me at a proper and safe way to deal with hps lamps without the need for a cool tube.. and neatly contains a constant ambient for both light and plant...hmm blazed

whoa sounds like a whole lot of effort.if you dont want to risk massive electrical shock and moisture issues but want to use the fridge as a grow box just get temperd glass and a fan, that way you dont need a vented light.the glass is around $20 and is 18"x22" it would be the same idea as a air cooled hood.you wouldnt need to waste the power freezing a lamp and the plants will thank you for it.
